The Faith Harvest Church in Durham, NC, is a 16,817 sq. ft. facility that utilized a custom metal building by Star Building Systems, along with a StarShield Roof System in Seal Brown color.
Conventional construction materials were used for the walls including studs with brick and EIFS. Completed in March 2008, this church used multiple roof slopes for its design.
The Star Building Systems builder was Danco Builders, Inc., Rocky Mount, NC. The steel erector was King’s, Inc., Knightdale, NC. The architect was Gary Glueck, Nashville, NC.
Using a custom metal building for this church was a practical choice considering the cost and span and height requirements. Also, using a metal building made erection a breeze.
Additional features to this structure include side wall and end wall overhangs with multiple roof slopes. The overhangs and roof slopes added architectural accents to the structure that created the dynamic look of the finished project.
To make the church more energy efficient, compact fluorescent lights were used in lieu of metal halide. Also, R15 insulation was used in the walls, four-inch-thick insulation was used in the roof and six inches of unfaced insulation was used above the ceiling.
