As the name implies, Bush Brothers and Company is family-owned business. Headquartered in Knoxville, TN, the company produces dozens of products though none more popular than its Bush’s Original Baked Beans. Ads for the beans, featuring Jay Bush and Duke, the mischievous golden retriever who wants to sell the secret family recipe, air regularly during many major sports telecasts.
Without a doubt, many people have heard of Bush’s Original Baked Beans. But few probably know anything about the company or its origin in Chestnut Hill, TN. Sharing that story is the mission behind a newly opened Visitors Center in that town. It features the original general store of the company’s founder, A.J. Bush, as well as a theater, exhibits showcasing the Bush story, and a café serving deli sandwiches, salads, hamburgers, hot dogs and, of course, baked beans.
Reflective of the old tin roofs of a bygone building era, the buildings of the Visitors Center complex are topped with Englert Inc. job-site manufactured standing seam metal roofing The 16”-wide Series 1000 panels were fashioned from 24-gauge Galvalume Plus-coated steel by the installer, Goddard & Carter Fabrications of Louisville, TN.
