The Farone & Son, Inc. Funeral Home in Liverpool, NY won first place in the commercial roofs category in ATAS International’s 2021 project of the
year competition.
Dutch Seam panels in Classic Bronze .032 aluminum were installed on the roof. The panels are 15” in width with a 1-1/2” seam height, and the panel surface is embossed with stiffening ribs. Dutch Seam is a continuous standing seam panel with
an integral seam. It is a highly engineered wind- and rain-resistant panel system, designed for strength and durability. The integral lock seam design and clip prevent rotation of the seam and provides a stronger interlock during a wind uplift event.
Regarding the building’s design, the architect for this project, Robert C. Abbott, Jr., said, “A funeral home is part of the funerary process in traditional funeral services. It is intended as a place of bereavement until the deceased moves
on to their final resting place. Therefore, this design illustrates that the doors have not closed yet as evidenced by the sawtooth angled roof design finished with ATAS' vertical roof panels and the angled sidewall panels (provided by others). Roof
and wall panels show that there is something beyond the funeral home itself in the deceased’s journey to their final resting place. ATAS' panels in the Classic Bronze finish were chosen for their beauty and longevity and their appropriateness
in achieving the design concept. The design for this funeral home is by no means arbitrary.” Abbott is principal of his firm located in Syracuse, NY.
The Dutch Seam panels were installed by Eastern Contractors of Syracuse, NY and were purchased through ABC Supply Company, also of Syracuse.
