More than 6,800 linear feet of Flex-C Trac® contributed to creating the dynamic theme in the renovation of the main lounge at the Las Vegas Hilton. Known as the Tempo Lounge, the ceiling sports a complex merger of intersecting circles and radii. The theme is carried throughout the room in carpeting, partitions and other design elements.
The Flex-C Trac system provides an easy way for builders to frame high quality curves by utilizing a simple, flexible metal track or plate for use with wood or metal studs.
Free-floating circular soffits are suspended on blacked-out wires near the entrance. “It’s a great looking effect,” says project manager Joe Vincent of Vergith Contracting, Las Vegas, the drywall subcontractor. “We’ve used Flex-C Trac many times before but this was our largest project. It was a complex job to lay out and it became pretty evident that Flex-C Trac was the way to go. There’s just a lot less labor involved in the installation using the flexible track. It would have taken countless hours to use any other method.”
The project was on a tight schedule in order to open the lounge by New Year’s Eve. “We completed the framing in about two weeks using a large crew and working two shifts,” said Vincent. “It was definitely tight. But the Flex-C Trac made it possible.”
Architect on the project was Bergman Walls & Associates, Las Vegas. Interior design was provided by Cleo Design, Las Vegas. The Flex-C Trac distributor was Garrett Materials, also of Las Vegas.
