While customers at the new Gold’s Gym in Salinas, Calif., are maintaining their physical health, the building’s owners can maintain their financial health, thanks to the energy-saving roofing material on their new 22,000-square-foot facility.
The new gym’s roof is finished with a Titan standing seam metal roofing system from Custom-Bilt Metals®, a long-time leader in the painted metal industry. In addition to its sleek, clean lines, the roof also offers the building’s owners both immediate and long-term financial benefits, explained Tony Chiovare, Custom-Bilt Metals’ founder and president.
“Like all of our Kynar-finished metal roofing products, the Titan standing seam panels on this building feature the Custom-Bilt TITAN® Cool Roof finish,” Chiovare explained. He noted that the cool roof finish is now standard on every one of Custom-Bilt Metals’ Kynar 500 colors including both standard and custom colors.

The Gold’s Gym roof is finished with Custom-Bilt Metals’ Titan® CS-100 Cap Seam 18½-inch metal panels in Custom-Bilt’s rich Hemlock Green color. The panels were roll-formed on-site by CAGS Metal Roofing of San Jose, Calif., an authorized Custom-Bilt Metals contractor. The building was designed by Wald Ruhnke & Dost Architects LLP.
Custom-Bilt Metals’ TITAN® Cool Roof finishes are highly reflective, with a minimum solar reflectance of 25 percent, and 60 percent or more on lighter colors, Chiovare explained. This provides outstanding color stability, chalk resistance, durability, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and flexibility, but above all it provides superior solar heat deflection and energy efficiency.
