Gamecock Park Restroom Buildings

Metal Roofing From Petersen Covers Pair Of New Facilities At University Of South Carolina

In spite of a nearly impossible installation schedule, the new restroom buildings at the University of South Carolina’s new Gamecock Park were completed in time for tailgating prior to the season-opening game in 2015. Directly adjacent to Williams Brice Football Stadium in Columbia, S.C., the project entailed the conversion of a 53-acre farmers market into the premier tailgating facility for the University.

The completion of the project heralded a new Gamecock football tradition, which involves the procession of the USC band and football team down the center greenway of the site. Flanking the greenway are the restroom buildings, which were designed by Watson Tate Savory in Columbia, and include prominent entryway columns that recall the historic qualities of the original portion of the campus.

Approximately 18,000 sq. ft. of Petersen’s Snap-Clad panels were specified for the roofs of the two buildings. The .032-in. x 16-in. aluminum panels were finished in PAC-CLAD Cool Color Weathered Zinc and fabricated at Petersen’s Acworth, Ga., plant. Installation of the panels was completed by Aqua Seal Roofing in Columbia.

“Aqua Seal had a very, very tough schedule to get the buildings ready for game day,” said Dave Landis, Petersen architectural/technical sales manager based out of Acworth. “Aqua Seal did a great job with the quality of work.”

Landis also reported that PAC-CLAD panels were used on a subsequent project involving three additional buildings in the stadium complex.
