Victor School Addition

Montana School Calls On Star Building Systems For Addition To Existing Facilities

This addition to the existing Victor School consists of four buildings by Star Building Systems and totals 20,032 square feet. These structures utilize Star’s StarShield Roof System totaling 20,000 square feet. Completed in December 2008, the four-building school addition in Victor, MT features Star’s SMS, SWE and SSB structural framing systems.

A Star mezzanine was also incorporated on the upper level in the mechanical and electrical room. The school’s exterior walls consist of metal stud framing and EIFS.

Unusual to the facility, maintaining a seismic separation between the existing portion of the school and the new portion was a necessity. In addition to meeting the seismic requirement, this project utilized custom metal building systems due to the cost savings and value engineering benefits.

To make the school more energy efficient, Simple Saver insulation was installed in the ceiling, as well as energy efficient light savers.

The Star Builder, general contractor and steel erector was Jackson Contractor Group, Missoula, MT. The architect was Jeff A. Anderson Architecture, Missoula, MT.
