General Industries, a commercial construction and real estate company based in Charleroi, Pa., has renovated a portion of Aquatech International Corporation’s headquarters in Canonsburg, Pa., utilizing metal systems from Varco Pruden Buildings.
Designed by Pittsburgh-based Gerard Associates Architects, the recently opened office space is for Aquatech International Corporation, a global leader in water purification systems and wastewater treatment technology for industrial and infrastructure markets. The structure features Varco Pruden’s Continuous Beam framing system, used to support the second story of the building and maintain deflection requirements for the entrance masonry.
The 9,300-square-foot structure was built using Varco Pruden’s top-of-the-line SSR™ standing seam roof system and Varco Pruden’s Panel Rib™ wall system.
This project involved sizing and designing a new office building to fit between three existing buildings. Three different widths were used to accommodate existing building. On the walls, four horizontal panels were used as an architectural accent. On the roof, skylights were mounted on roof curbs from KCC International, Inc. to provide natural daylighting for the building interior.
Unique features of the building include a mezzanine joist installed to support two moveable partition walls. Building frames were extended to support the parapet wall sheathed with Varco Pruden’s FP-12 Soffit panel.
