Integrated Medical Systems International (IMS) is a national leader in surgical device and instrument management. Recently the company moved one of its repair facilities into a newly renovated, 55,000 square-foot operations center in Birmingham, AL. The new facility features offices, conference and training space, and space for technicians to perform lab work. Its exterior is adorned with Sunset Red and Slate Gray metal wall panels from Laminators Inc. of Hatfield, PA.
IMS provides sterile processing assessments, management and outsourcing, instrument management in the operating room, education, certification and process improvement programs. CCR Architects of Birmingham was selected to oversee the renovation and used the Laminators Omega-Lite panels as accents in the renovation design. The Sunset Red wall is mirrored on the interior of the entryway for added punch. With the façade composed of glass and metal panels, the building envelope also includes a cistern for rainwater collection to irrigate new landscaping. Precision and detail were top of mind when this building was designed.
Birmingham-based A&L Metals installed the Sunset Red panels using the manufacturer’s Rout & Return installation method. The Slate Gray canopy and soffit panels were installed using the manufacturer’s Clip & Caulk installation system to balance the boldness that Sunset Red offers near the building’s entrance.
Abrams Architectural Products of Austell, GA fabricated the aluminum composite panels for the project. Rives Construction Company of Birmingham was the general Contractor.
