Sheffield Barndominium

Residential Structure Created With Help Of Products From Star Building Systems

The exterior of the "barndominium", owned by Damon and Maggie Sheffield of Webber Falls, OK, prominently features metal products from Star Building Systems. Combining a residence with a large garage/storage area, the structure measures 52’ wide x 100’ long x 18’ high with a 3:12 roof slope.

The living portion of the barndominium, including the second level, is approximately 4,800 sq. ft. and the garage is about 2,500 sq. ft. The garage has a full liner system on roof and walls, while the living area has ceiling liner with sheet-rocked walls. (The liner panels, all in white, were not supplied by Star.) The roof panels are a 26 gauge PBR profile in Charcoal Gray. The wall panels are 26 gauge PBR in Charcoal Gray installed up to 4’ above the finished floor, with Ash Gray color PBR panels used above. Special flashing was provided by Star for the tie-in of the colors at the top of the wainscot.

The wrap-around below-eave canopies are supported by Star framing, but stick built and covered with the same type and color of panels as the roof and walls. Soffit panels are 26 gauge PBR in Ash Gray. The canopies extend 10’ out from the walls and have a clear height of 8’ all around, with hipped corners. The roof slope for the canopies is 1:12.

The insulation, provided by Bay Insulation, is R-38 for the roof, R-51 for the living area, and R-36 for the garage walls.

The interior of the living area is bright with an abundance of natural light that reflects off the white walls. The roof liner has recessed lighting and adds a clean, finished look to the interior.

The Star Builder, general contractor and erector was B&B Welding Inc. of Sallisaw, OK. Construction started on March 21, 2016 and was finished on August 19, 2016.
