More than 74,000 sq. ft. of Metl-Span insulated roof and wall panels were used on the new Gary Jet Center—West Hangar in Gary, IN. Located at the Gary/Chicago International Airport, Gary Jet Center is a full-service FBO.
Approximately 34,000 sq. ft. of 2 ½” CF-42 Mesa wall panels clad the facility including the massive doors that measure 220’ wide and 28’ high. The wall panels were finished in Regal Gray on the exterior with Igloo White on the interior. Approximately 40,000 sq. ft. of the 4” CFR-42 panels were utilized on the roof. They were finished in Polar White on the exterior and Igloo White on the interior.
“The owner wanted an energy-efficient building,” said Doug Wilhite with Lee Companies, Gary, the project manager. “We recommended the Metl-Span one-piece insulated system that would save labor costs as well as provide good efficiency.”
Architectural design was done by Ghafari Associates, LLC, Chicago. Kerrcon Inc, Portage, IN, erected the 38,000 sq. ft. Varco Pruden building and also installed the Metl-Span panels. Hangar doors were provided by Norco Universal Door Systems, Franksville, WI.
