Nonresidential Construction Spending Remained Steady In November

Washington, DC - National nonresidential construction spending was virtually unchanged in November on a monthly basis, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, nonresidential spending totaled $820.6 billion for the month.

AGC Analysis Shows Most Metro Areas Added Construction Jobs In The Past 12 Months

Arlington, VA - Construction employment increased in nearly two out of three U.S. metro areas between November 2020 and November 2021, according to an analysis by the Associated General Contractors of America of recent government employment data. Association officials said the job gains were welcome news for the industry but cautioned that it will be difficult for construction levels to return to pre-pandemic levels amid tight labor market conditions.

Red Bud Slitting Line Installed At Steel Service Center In Texas

Red Bud, IL — JM Steel, a steel service center, recently installed a Red Bud Industries Heavy Gauge Slitting Line. The new line was installed at JM Steel’s new facility in Sinton, Texas on the new SDI Mill campus. The line is capable of processing material up to .500” (12.7 mm) thick x 84” (2130 mm) wide, with a maximum coil weight of 105,000 lbs (47,627 kg).

Washington, DC – Architecture firms reported increasing demand for design services for the tenth consecutive month in November, according to a new report from The American Institute of Architects (AIA). The ABI score for November was 51.0, down from 54.3 the previous month.

Equipment Finance Industry Confidence Eases in December

Washington, DC – The Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation (the Foundation) has released its December 2021 Monthly Confidence Index for the Equipment Finance Industry (MCI-EFI). The index reports a qualitative assessment of both the prevailing business conditions and expectations for the future as reported by key executives from the $900 billion equipment finance sector. Overall, confidence in the equipment finance market is 63.9, a decrease from the November index of 64.6.

Nucor Acquires Majority Ownership Of California Steel Industries

Charlotte, NC - Nucor Corporation (NYSE: NUE) announces that it has reached agreements to acquire a majority ownership position in California Steel Industries, Inc. (CSI) by purchasing a 50% equity interest from a subsidiary of Vale S.A. and a 1% equity ownership stake from JFE Steel Corporation. The company will be a joint venture between Nucor and JFE, pending regulatory approvals.
