U.S. Steel Purchases 49.9% Interest In Big River Steel

Pittsburgh, PA – United States Steel Corporation announced on October 1 a joint venture partnership agreement under which it has taken the first step towards acquiring Big River Steel through the purchase of a 49.9% ownership interest at a purchase price of approximately $700 million in cash, with a call option to acquire the remaining 50.1% within the next four years.

Housing Starts In August Reach Highest Level Since 2007

Washington, DC - Led by a surge in multifamily production, total housing starts rose 12.3 percent in August 2019 to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.36 million units from an upwardly revised reading in July, according to a report from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development and Commerce Department. Construction Employment Increased By 14,000 Jobs In August
