Arthur J. Altmeyer Federal Building

Uniformity across large surfaces, price stability and product availability in a time of supply chain uncertainty were all factors in the decision by designers to go with Rigidized® Metals' InvariMatte® micro texture finish on aluminum for the exterior cladding of the newly renovated Arthur J. Altmeyer Federal Building in Woodlawn, MD.

MWC Dairy Processing Plant

Size mattered when planning one of Michigan’s newest, most technologically advanced dairy plants. But so did speed of construction, which is why two types of insulated panels from Kingspan Insulated Panels - North America were utilized for the construction of the new 400,000-square-foot MWC dairy processing plant in St. Johns.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Central Roofing Company’s roots have been in Minneapolis for more than 90 years. Recently those roots spread to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. That’s where the company helped build the new McQuinn Horticulture and Operations Headquarters. They also rebuilt the metal roofs on the historic Red Barn and silo within the arboretum. For both projects, the company installed metal roofing systems and products from Firestone Building Products.

Spy Hop Productions

The new Spy Hop Productions building in Salt Lake City sounds like an apt title for a James Bond 007 movie, but it's actually the name chosen for a non-profit youth digital media arts center that offers in-school and after-school youth in-care and satellite programming. One of the new complex's signature features is a third floor performance space that's been enhanced through the inclusion of a glass bifold door from Schweiss Doors.

Liberty Self Storage

For the recent solar conversion of its facility in Covington, LA, Liberty Self Storage wanted to express its patriotism and love of country by having the new rooftop solar array configured in the form of an American flag. With the help of The Next Energy Technology company of Kenner, LA, and solar panel attachment products from Colorado-based S-5!, the design intent was achieved in the best possible way.

Cedar Creek Lake Home

Even with all of the benefits a metal roof provides, including durability, longevity, recyclability, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, sometimes, it’s still all about the look, and that was important to its specification as part of the renovation of a Texas Lakehouse. The roof was formed from coil provided by McElroy Metal.

The Stack Deep Ellum

The unique façade design of The Stack Deep Ellum – a new 16-story 215,000 square-foot mixed-use office, retail and parking development – reflects the dynamic nature of the historic Dallas neighborhood, which transitions from daytime office, art gallery and café spaces to nighttime entertainment, happy-hour and evening-only dining venues. It featured aluminum composite material (ACM) cladding from 3A Composites USA.

Florida Panhandle Home

Pretty much everything is a standout feature in this new-construction home sited in a gated community on Destin, Fla.’s Choctawhatchee Bay. Intended to resemble an upscale, contemporary resort hotel, it features Snap-Clad standing seam metal roofing from Petersen.

Offering an urban beach getaway with a fresh view of New York City, The new Rockaway Hotel in Queens stands six stories tall and is clad in architectural-grade zinc wall panels. The zinc from which the panels were fabricated was from RHEINZINK America Inc. of Woburn, MA.

Opportunity Bank of Montana has two branch locations in the town of Great Falls. The latest addition is an award-winning structure that adds to the revitalized town. Dri-Design Wall Panels make a strong and welcoming statement on the geometrically shaped structure.

Solis Luxury Apartments

Solis is no ordinary apartment building. Located in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, the project is the end result of efforts by designers, visionaries and artisans to create a one-of-a-kind building targeting Passive House Certification. Not surprisingly, the doors marking the building's grand entrance are one-of-a-kind too. Featuring ornate custom grilles, they were manufactured by Fairfax, MN-based Schweiss Doors.

David Rubenstein Forum

The award-winning David Rubenstein Forum project at the University of Chicago utilized 60,000 square feet of custom Versa-Lok and custom-fabricated wall panels that were manufactured by ATAS in 1.0 mm grey zinc. The panels were used as exterior wall cladding on this 166-foot-tall building consisting of 10 stories (a two-story base, and an eight-story tower).

100 Above The Park

For the 100 Above The Park landmark residential tower near the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, the texture and finish of the prominent metallic surfaces needed to be just right. Anodized aluminum from Lorin Industries was selected for the corrugated rainscreen panels and flat trim panels on the façade as well as for fabricated "blades" over the garage area.

Wurstfest Facility

Wurstfest is a popular annual celebration of German culture in New Braunfels, Texas. Just days after the successful November 2019 event wrapped up, a fire damaged the large facility that hosts the 10-day festival. With less than a year to reconstruct the 27,000 square foot facility for the 60th annual event in November 2020, there was no time to waste.

Caledon Industrial Park

The plain box is no more. And it's partly because of energy efficient, cost-efficient and attractive insulated metal panel systems like those from Kingspan Insulated Panels. The company's KS Shadowline insulated metal panels were recently specified for the Caledon Industrial Park in Caledon, Ontario, Canada. In addition to being a candidate for LEED® Silver certification, the building is a definite cut above the usual in terms of aesthetics.

Surf City Municipal Complex

When the Town of Surf City, NC, made plans to construct a building that would consolidate the police department and other emergency services operations, durability was a main consideration. To meet the high-wind requirements of the coast, the architectural roofing choice was McElroy Metal’s Maxima standing seam metal roofing, featuring a 3-coat paint finish from Sherwin-Williams.

Theodore Roosevelt Visitor Center

The new Theodore Roosevelt Visitor Center at the Theodore Roosevelt National Wildlife Refuge near Onward, Miss., provides interpretive information for both the refuge and the six other properties that make up the refuge complex. Its design, including a classic, farm-style metal roof from Petersen, is a direct reflection of the area’s agricultural roots.

Ocean Reef Club Water Treatment Plant

Located on the northernmost tip of Key Largo in the Florida Keys, Ocean Reef Club is one of the country’s most comprehensive private club communities, offering 1,700 waterfront estates, private homes, condominiums and an oceanfront inn. Recently, solar metal roof panels were added to the roof of the club's 6,400 sq. ft. reverse osmosis water plant. It was a project more challenging than it sounds, and one that involved attachment products from S-5!.

Unicharm Manufacturing Facility

Seeking more control over its energy and power demands, Unicharm Co. Ltd. explored rooftop solar options for its manufacturing facility in Taiwan. Company officials liked the idea of adding rooftop solar, but were concerned about the added weight of glass crystalline panels. Aplus Energy Ltd. presented them with a building integrated solar option that not only weighed significantly less, but included other compelling features too.

Overland Elementary School

The Rochester (Minn.) Public Schools District teamed up with LHB on a $171.4 million bond referendum to ask the voters to construct three elementary schools and a middle school. The first of the schools completed was Overland Elementary School. To help ensure the facility would stand the test of time, copper Flat Lock Tiles from Sheet Metal Supply of Grayslake, IL were specified and installed on the school.
