Construction Employment Rises In October, According To AGC

Arlington, VA - Construction employment increased by 10,000 jobs in October and by 148,000, or 2.0 percent, over the past 12 months, while construction spending decreased by 2.0 percent from September 2018 to September 2019, according to an analysis of new government data by the Associated General Contractors of America.

Nonresidential Construction Spending Increases Slightly In September, Says ABC

Washington, DC - National nonresidential construction spending rose 0.5% in September but is down 0.9% on a year-ago basis, according to an Associated Builders and Contractors analysis of data published by the U.S. Census Bureau. On a seasonally adjusted annualized basis, spending totaled $775.6 billion, 2.4% lower than the cyclical peak in April 2019.

New Home Sales Remain Stable In September 2019

Washington, DC - Sales of newly built, single-family homes decreased 0.7 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 701,000 units in September off a downwardly revised reading in August, according to newly released data by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the U.S. Census Bureau. On a year-to-date basis, new home sales for 2019 are 7.2 percent higher than the same period in 2018.
