Iowa City Fire Station #4

After literally two decades in the planning, the new Iowa City Fire Station #4 is complete and providing improved service to the northeast section of Iowa City, Iowa. Located on a high-visibility site, the LEED Gold facility - featuring roof, wall and soffit panels from Petersen Aluminum - establishes a prominent visual presence for the fire department in the center of the service area.

Baker Hughes Pumping Services Facility Administration Building

The 34,422 sq. ft. administration building for Baker Hughes’ pumping services in Shreveport, LA utilized Varco Pruden Buildings’ Deck Frame framing for its construction, accompanied by pre-cast wall panels. This system allowed for large glass areas and a dramatic canopied entry structure.

California Health Care Facility Inmate Hospital

When the CDCR bid out the new California Health Care Facility inmate hospital in Stockton, scheduling was seen as one of the keys to the project’s success, with logistics and accessibility being major challenges as well. It was with those things in mind that insulated standing seam panels from All Weather Insulated Panels were proposed in lieu of traditional metal roofing for nearly two-thirds of the planned 1.2 million square feet of new construction.

DLA Eastern Distribution Center

When the sun beats down on the DLA's new 1.7 million square foot warehouse in East Cumberland, PA, Solarwall® solar thermal collecting wall panels from Conserval Engineering of Toronto Ontario, Canada go to work. Installed on portions of the massive warehouse's east and south walls, the panels heat the warehouse interior, lowering heating costs by an estimated $350,000 a year.

Corbin Building Restoration

Metal construction products are seldom mentioned in the same sentence as New York City, but perhaps the successful restoration of an historic Manhattan building will change that. On the Corbin Building restoration, which was undertaken as part of a larger municipal project, metal from Englert Inc. of Perth Amboy, NJ was fashioned into terra-cotta-style tiles to top a pair of towers that were original to the Corbin Building’s design but had been removed many years ago.

Chesapeake Energy

In Oklahoma City, OK a severe hail storm caused extensive damage to the metal cladding of the Chesapeake Energy building. Rather than tearing the old cladding off and replacing it, the old panel system was left in place and a new cladding installed right over the top. Comprising the new cladding was ALPOLIC aluminum composite material from Mitsubishi Plastics Composites America Inc.

Lincoln Elementary School

Lincoln Elementary School serves as a Performing Arts Magnet School in the Louisville, Kentucky area. Carlisle Steet Parking Facility

The City of St. Catharines Carlisle Street Parking Facility earned the 2012 Niagara Community Design Award for Architecture, and woven wire mesh from W.S. Tyler was one of the key design elements incorporated into the structure.

Maple Grove Public Works Facility

Because of its proximity to a residential area, the architectural design of the new Maple Grove (MN) Public Works Facility includes a façade that complements the surrounding neighborhood. Key to the building's pleasing exterior are 12,000 sq. ft. of DRI-DESIGN rainscreen metal wall panels. They were formed from .080"-thick aluminum with a black anodized finish.

FECHAC Regional Office Building

Designed by the architectural firm Grupo ARKHOS, the Chihuahua’s Businessmen Foundation (FECHAC) Regional Office in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, embodies FECHAC’s core values of giving, common good, solidarity and subsidiarity through four 40-foot-tall, 13-foot-wide volumes on the primary façade, clad in tessellated Reynobond Aluminum Composite Material (ACM).

Described as “a work of art”, the new McCallum Arts Center building in Austin, TX presents a dramatic environment in which students from across the Austin Independent School District pursue an accelerated, comprehensive arts curriculum offered by the McCallum Fine Arts Academy. Featured prominently on the facility are metal panels by Petersen Aluminum.

Lyric Opera House

The historic Lyric Opera House in Baltimore was originally constructed in 1895 as a concert hall with a traditional gable roof. Now, after a four-phase renovation and major expansion, The Lyric has become the city’s premier venue for opera and traveling Broadway shows. Playing a role in that transformation was RHEINZINK titanium-zinc cladding.

Blank Park Zoo - Sea Lion Shade Canopies

Seals and sea lions in captivity tend to have more eye problems than other zoo animals, with research suggesting it is related to prolonged exposure to sunlight and the amount of light that reflects off the surface of the pools in their habitats. With this in mind, as part of a complete renovation of the sea lion exhibit at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines, Iowa, two large canopies were constructed, using metal panels from The Garland Company, Inc.

Armed Forces Reserve Center

Located on a 12.7-acre site in Farmingdale, NY is the new four-story, 200,000 sq. ft. Armed Forces Reserve Center. Designed for joint use by the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Marine Corp Reserve, and Navy Reserve, the AFRC is authorized to accommodate 1,775 enlisted personnel and 155 officers. Featured on its exterior is approximately 75,000 sq. ft. of fire-rated ALPOLIC aluminum composite material from Mitsubishi Plastics Composites America Inc.

The Heart of the City Health Center serves as the new home for the Ferguson Adult Health Center and Grand Rapid Pediatrics. A consolidation of three separate healthcare providers, this joint venture will provide primary healthcare services to an additional 8,000 low-income individuals in the area annually. CENTRIA products are prominent elements of the facility’s design.

Furniture Row Renovations

It’s out with the old and in with the new for Furniture Row Companies. The parent company of Denver Sofa Mart, Oak Express, Denver Mattress, and Bedroom Expressions is getting rid of the weathered wooden planks used around the entrances at many of its stores and replacing them with sleek, modern metal composite panels. The supplier of the aluminum composite panels used in multiple locations so far is Laminators Inc. of Hatfield, PA.

Iglesia Bautista Bethel Addition

The new sanctuary at the Iglesia Bautista Bethel in Hialeah, FL, will safely weather the severe tropical storms prevalent in South Florida, with the assistance of a building envelope protected by Reynobond® with KEVLAR® and Reynobond Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) by Alcoa Architectural Products. It was designed by Jerry Clawson Architects of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL, in collaboration with architect/interior designer Ignacio Gonzalez of Miami, FL.

Mossman-Nguyen Residence

Metal Building Company (MBC), an authorized American Buildings Company (ABC) Builder, built a residence for the Mossman-Nguyen family, diverging from their conventional metal building structures. In five months, MBC and the general contractor, KS Design Build, combined the traditional pre-engineered design with custom residential features.
