Gloucester County Dream Park

With more than eight buildings, the Gloucester County Dream Park in Logan Township, NJ totals 124,281 square feet. In addition to metal building framing by Star Building Systems, the facility utilized Star’s StarShield and DuraRib Roof Systems totaling 136,009 square feet, along with the DuraRib Walls totaling 42,776 square feet. The agricultural center’s eight buildings consist of a main arena, auction hall, concession link, two show stables, a residence stable, an apartment and a maintenance building.

Mini Warehouse - Carolina, Puerto Rico

Florida-based WES Industries was able to help Mini Warehouse of Carolina, Puerto Rico successfully move ahead in its efforts to save on energy costs. The client took advantage of a tax incentive to install 768 solar power modules on over 25,000 sq. ft. of roof area. To secure the 130-kilowatt array to the roof WES used attachment solutions from S-5!™ of Colorado Springs, CO. The company’s S-5-PV Kits provided the strength the project demanded and the ease-of-installation WES Industries required.

Chevron Service Station Renovations

In 2005, in order to convey a clearer, stronger and more unified presence, energy giant Chevron/Texaco simplified its name to Chevron. At the same time, the company unveiled a new, more streamlined logo and an ambitious program to makeover almost 8,500 U.S. stations in the U.S. Part of the updating process would involve installing new canopies over the gas pumps. To ensure its new brand image is consistent in all markets, Chevron relies on a newtwork of key industry partners, including Alcoa Architectural Products of Norcross, GA, and Calcraft Corporation of Rialto, CA—material manufacturers, fabricators and installers of the ACM material selected for the program.

LaRose Residence

This stately home in the Martins Point area of Kitty Hawk, NC, showcases metal roofing by Metal-Fab Manufacturing (MetFab). The home features 9,200 sq. ft. of MetFab’s Snap-On 500 panels. The 16”-wide panels were formed from .032 aluminum with a Slate Gray finish. The roofing contractor was Baker Roofing of Norfolk, VA.

Tao Condominiums

Ohio Gratings, Inc. (OGi) of Canton, Ohio recently provided its aluminum bar screen product for the Tao Condominiums project in Sunrise, Florida. This complex includes both living quarters and a parking structure, both of which were designed to utilize materials that were aesthetically appealing as well as durable, secure and economical. Approximately 13,000 sq. ft. of OGi's aluminum bar screen, with a clear anodized finish, was used in three different areas of the development.

Queen Mary Bio Enterprises Innovation Centre

James & Taylor has helped craft a façade that enhances the historical setting of what is thought to be London’s most important new technology innovation building – using Eyetech expanded mesh made from a specially selected brass that gradually weathers to a subtle palette of autumnal hues. The façade provides both rainscreen protection and solar shading.

Princess Anne Office Building

A part of the Children’s Hospital Of The King’s Daughters, the Princess Anne Office Building is located at the new Sentara Princess Anne Medical campus in Virginia Beach, Virginia. A signature of the building’s exterior is a curved roof sweep created with aluminum standing seam panels by ATAS International. Situated on the ocean front, the 60,000 sq. ft. facility is only minutes down the street from an amphitheater on the appropriately-named Concert Drive. With that in mind, the building features a musically-themed environment for pediatric patients, who range in age from infants to 21 year olds.

White Mountain Administrative Complex

The White Mountain Administrative Complex in Campton, NH, features custom metal buildings by Star Building Systems. Totaling 14,296 square feet, the metal buildings were chosen for cost-effectiveness and for the ability to fulfill a design that resembled a typical New England sugar house. The buildings in this complex are covered by Star’s StarShield Roof System in Charcoal Gray color, along with reverse-rolled DuraRib Wall System panels in Light Stone color. Completed in May 2008, the 3-structure complex is LEED certified.

Les Schwab Tire Centers Headquarters

Les Schwab Tire Centers, known throughout the Northwest for the popular, homespun marketing tactics of its founder, Les Schwab, has moved its corporate headquarters from the original cinderblock building in Prineville, Oregon to a sparkling new structure in Bend. Utilized for the design of the new building was nearly 30,000 sq. ft. of Citadel Envelope 2000® Rain Screen (RS) metal composite material panels in three colors: Gun Metal, Terra Cotta and Champagne Metallic.

Northern Kentucky University Student Union

The new 58,000 sq. ft. Student Union at Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, KY serves as the hub for the entire campus and creates a crossroads for student, faculty and staff activities. University administrators sought a “unique and appealing identity” that would raise the standard and set a new direction for architectural excellence on the campus, according to Michael Jacobs, principal, Omni Architects, Lexington, KY. Utilized for the building's construction was 30,000 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK® Preweathered Blue-Gray zinc panels.

Levy Riding Arena

With wood framing deemed impractical due to prohibitive spanning requirements, the metal building approach came to the fore as being the best solution for a 12,800 sq. ft. indoor horse riding arena in Carp, Ontario, Canada. Baird Construction Management Ltd. of Carp, an Authorized Robertson Builder, designed and built the structure using products and systems by Robertson Building Systems. Construction began on the building in June 2006 and was completed two months later.

Powerhouse Condominiums

Long Island City’s newest luxury condominium has been a local landmark for the past 100 years. The Powerhouse Condominiums, which welcomed its first residents in August 2008, gives new life to the old Penn Station powerhouse, which once provided electricity for the trains stopping in New York’s Penn Station. The architect’s transformation of the old property’s image was assisted by the specification of Reynobond aluminum composite material panels. The lightweight material was manufactured by Alcoa Architectural Products and fabricated into panels by the Riverside Group.

Brackett Library

Vero Beach Roofing Inc., a Sentrigard™ Metal Roofing Systems Certified Contractor located in Vero Beach, Florida, fabricated and installed nearly 23,000 sq. ft. of Sentrigard™ 1.5” Snap Lock roofing for the recently completed Brackett Library in Vero Beach. The facility is located on the Mueller Campus of Indian River Community College but was conceived as a joint-use library serving the needs of both college students and Indian River County residents alike. STH Architect Group of West Palm Beach, FL, designed the prairie-style structure and specified its metal roof system.

Located in the Canton section of Baltimore, MD, near the vibrant Inner Harbor area, the 1st Mariner Bank building is a recognizable landmark on the scenic landscape. Playing a prominent role in the sleek but dignified appearance of the high-rise structure is metal roofing by Metal-Fab Manufacturing (MetFab).

Baptist Hospital East

The recently expanded campus of Baptist Hospital East features a new Outpatient Surgery and Patient Bed Tower Facility clad in Kingspan Benchmark panels. Windows also wrap the Park Tower, providing patients and employees with plenty of daylight and views of the surrounding greenery. Engberg Anderson collaborated with Kingspan Benchmark on the $72 million outpatient facility. The Park Tower features roughly 18,000 square feet of Kingspan Benchmark Designwall 2000H Striated panels. They are finished in sandstone and white and striated to provide an attractive linear shadowing effect to the walls.

Con-Way LaSalle XLA

The 124,090 sq. ft. Con-Way LaSalle XLA operation in LaSalle, IL, is an impressive metal building project featuring a custom metal building by Star Building Systems that was chosen due to cost and time restraints. The ability to utilize several wall systems as well as wrap around door jams also made a custom metal building very appealing.

St. Clair Hospital

When the administrators of St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh planned the expansion of the community hospital’s Emergency Department, they wanted a distinctive look that would stand out from the existing structure and be immediately recognizable within the campus. They achieved those objectives through the use of Citadel's Envelope 2000® Rout and Return (RR) system panels in Classic Copper and Sky Blue colors. Fabrication of the Citadel panels was done by East Coast Metal Systems, Bellaire, OH. Installation was handled by Burns & Scallo Roofing Company, Pittsburgh.

Albion College Science Complex

As Michigan’s first large-scale Silver LEED-Certified science building, the Albion College Science Complex boasts an energy-efficient, stucco-embossed exterior provided by Kingspan Insulated Panels. The project is a blend of renovation and new construction and benefits from a variety of green building components. The $41.6 million Albion College Science Complex renovation was completed in 2006 and received Silver LEED Certification from the USGBC in 2007. The project’s design specifically called for green building practices in order to meet the requirements for LEED Certification and Project Kaleidoscope.

Greenwich Residence

Approximately 1,000 ft. of RHEINZINK® gutters and downspouts provide great looks and better drainage for one Greenwich, CT, residence. The gutters were installed by Greenwich Specialties, Inc. and unlike traditional gutter systems, the half-round RHEINZINK gutters are supported from below with brackets. Cradling the gutter from below helps keep the gutter clear and makes cleaning and maintenance easier. The half-round shape reduces the dependence on slope to move water compared to flat-bottom gutter designs.

Loughborough University Car Park

Façade specialists James & Taylor have won their own university challenge with a combination of silver and bronze Eyetech that adorns Loughborough University’s first multi-story car park in Leicestershire, UK. James & Taylor supplied 1,400 square meters of Eyetech expanded aluminum (aluminium) mesh, anodized in silver and bronze. The cutting-edge material, which envelopes the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, provides a futuristic, yet practical finish to the university’s £3.5m project.
