Wilmington Organic Recycling Center

The recently-completed Wilmington Organic Recycling Center (WORC) is situated on a redeveloped brownfield site near the Port of Wilmington, DE. Driving the initial interest was the municipal landfill’s planned suspension of receiving yard waste. The plant is anchored by an 18,000-sq.-ft. blue Butler Manufacturing™ metal building.

777 South Broad

Designed by JKR Partners, Philadelphia, 777 South Broad plays a pivotal role in the transformation of the Avenue of the Arts to a true residential neighborhood. The project brings together the flavor of South Philadelphia with nearby City Center style. Featured on the exterior of the five-story, $70 million property were ProCore metal wall panels from Citadel Architectural Products.

EHS Fleet Centre

The EHS Fleet Centre in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada is not fancy, but it incorporates some non-standard features that enhance both its appearance and energy efficiency. At the heart of the building's construction is a metal building system by Robertson Building Systems of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada. The 16,380 sq. ft. structure also features metal roof and wall systems from Robertson.

Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque

Putrajaya, Malaysia, the ultra-modern administrative center and new seat of the Malaysian government, recently created the new Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque - nicknamed the Iron Mosque - to serve as a community meeting place. The building was designed to achieve simplicity, airiness and transparency, and to reflect the architectural style of the region through modern materials and techniques. GKD’s Escale 7x1 stainless steel spiral mesh was specified to meet all of these goals.

J.A. Riggs Caterpillar

Metal building systems from Varco Pruden Buildings, a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., were used to create the J.A. Riggs Caterpillar service center facility in Little Rock, Arkansas. Varco Pruden Buildings’ Continuous Beam framing was utilized on this project that was completed in March 2009. Building sizes were 52,622 sq. ft. and 30,163 sq. ft.

CornerStone Bank

Though most people associate tile roofing with Mediterranean and Southwestern designs, it has long been popular in Northern and Eastern Europe as well. So when CornerStone State Bank developed plans for a new location in a Czech-influenced area in Minnesota, they wanted a design that would fit with the roots of this farming community. The use of a Met-Tile metal tile panel roof system from McElroy Metal helped.

Fort Knox Human Resource Center

To integrate, coordinate, and synchronize human resource functions, the Fort Knox Human Resource Center of Excellence complex will employ nearly 4,300 soldiers and civilians. The 883,180 square-foot complex, spanning over 104 acres and costing approximately $192 million, is the largest single building project in Fort Knox’s history and includes six interconnected buildings. A featured material on the new development is aluminum composite material from Laminators Inc. of Hatfield, PA.

Farley Elementary School

Approximately 6,000 sq. ft. of Dri-Design panels were used to help create a functional yet exciting environment for K-6 grade students at the new Farley Elementary School in Topeka, KS. The .080” aluminum panels were finished in Green, Terra Cotta, Silver and Gold. Design for the 93,000 sq. ft. facility was provided by HTK Architects, Topeka.

Galloway Riding Arena

Robertson Building Systems of Ancaster, Ontario, Canada supplied the metal building system and components used for the construction of the 7,000 sq. ft. Galloway Riding Arena in Ponoka County, Alberta, Canada. The arena was designed and built by Camdon Construction of Red Deer, Alberta, and measures 70’ x 100’ x 17. It has a 1:12 roof slope.

100 Park

When it was constructed in the 1950s, 100 Park helped New York City's Park Avenue become a desirable business address. Five decades later, Moed de Armas & Shannon Architects of NYC were commissioned to transform the once-modern steel and glass tower into a “New Modern Classic”. The design team accomplished that goal, in part, by covering the building's exterior with metal wall panels fabricated from Reynobond® aluminum composite material (ACM).

Eaglewood Fire Station #82

Utilizing a metal building system from Varco Pruden Buildings, a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., the new Eaglewood Fire Station #82 features both function and aesthetics. Varco Pruden’s Rigid Frame system and SSR roofing are highlighted on this Salt Lake City, Utah, facility that was completed in February 2009.

Stallings Residence

The Stallings residence, a 7,500 sq. ft. custom home in Clovis, NM , is equipped with many unique features – from a split-level trophy room and home office suite to a lavish outdoor pool and entertainment area complete with cabanas and swim-up bar. And now it sports another: a Met-Tile metal tile-facsimile roof from McElroy Metal. The roof was recently installed on the home as a replacement for its original standing seam system.

A strikingly innovative structure has opened on the campus of RHEINZINK® America’s parent company, RHEINZINK GmbH & Co. KG, in Datteln, Germany. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the new welcome and reception center is actually a prototype of a residential concept that will be marketed throughout the world.

Centennial Elementary School

The interior design for the new Centennial Elementary School - serving 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade in Edmond, OK - relies heavily on extensive curves, radiuses and light coves to provide a friendly, contemporary atmosphere. Approximately 4,000 linear feet of 3 5/8” 20 gauge Flex-C Trac® by Flex-Ability Concepts was used to frame the project.

Animal Care & Protective Services - Jacksonville

The new Animal Care and Protective Services building in Jacksonville, FL, is the city’s first LEED-certified project. The 41,000 sq. ft. facility is situated on a reclaimed brownfield site and has received LEED Gold Certification. The new facility offers increased capacity and quality of care, adoption areas, medical treatment areas and public education space. Approximately 12,500 sq. ft. of Petersen’s 24 gauge PAC-CLAD 7.2” Rib and Perforated 7.2” Rib panels helped to accomplish the design objectives.

UNMC Durham Research Center II

The new UNMC Durham Research Center II (DRC II) is a 10-story tower that’s almost a mirror image of the first Durham Research Center (DRC). The matching towers are joined at the base with a covered walkway and two-story, shell-shaped atrium. Marking the atrium's entry is a striking canopy accented by Champagne and Platinum-finished ACM panels fabricated from Alcoa Architectural Products' Reynobond material.

Norton Brownsboro Hospital

Norton Brownsboro Hospital is the first new full-service hospital to open in the Louisville, KY area in more than 20 years. The five-story, 298,000 square foot facility features the latest in healthcare technology and an innovative patient and family-centered care model. Featured on the building's exterior are insulated metal wall panels from Metl-Span.

Shelby Baptist Medical Center

As the biggest single healthcare project in the history of Shelby County, AL, the new South Tower at Shelby Baptist Medical Center features over 100 new private patient rooms, an intensive care unit twice the size as the previous unit, and a new covered patient pickup and drop off area. The four-story addition includes 37,000 square feet of Bright Silver Omega-Lite aluminum composite panels, manufactured by Laminators Incorporated of Hatfield, PA.

Saft Passive House

Whirlwind Solar, a Division of Whirlwind Steel Buildings, Inc., in conjunction with Corey Saft, an Architecture Professor at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, has completed the first application of Solar Laminates on a certified ‘Passive House’. The solar array, laminated to the Whirlwind Weather Snap metal system, is sized at 3.264 kW.

Better Living Mill Shop

The Better Living Mill Shop in Troy, Va., is a 25,955-square-foot facility that makes a vivid energy-efficiency statement with InSpire wall panels from ATAS International, Inc. The project recently was LEED Certified for new construction by the U.S. Green Building Council under its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System. It is said to be the first industrial building in central Virginia to earn LEED certification in the LEED New Construction Green Rating System.
