Waterford Bay

An unusual site alongside St. Paul, Minn.’s Mississippi riverfront is just one element in the city’s efforts to turn a former industrial area into a new center for housing and outdoor recreation. Once home to a coal-fired power plant, and now a recently completed 243-unit apartment building - Waterford Bay featuring metal cladding by Petersen - has taken its place in a development that also has added public access to the river for boaters, cyclists and pedestrians.

Waukesha Iron & Metal Recycling Center

The Waukesha Iron & Metal Recycling Center, located in Waukesha, Wisconsin, has been a family-owned and operated business since 1956. The recent addition of an automobile shredder presented construction challenges due to the unique nature of the project. Those challenges were overcome by the owners and their design/construction team, with the help of metal building systems from Metallic Building Company.

Waxahachie Civic Center

How do you handle a monster job? You call in your own monster: “Archzilla” from McElroy Metal. Archzilla is a roll former attached to a scissors lift that elevates the roll former to the eaves. The panels – more than 115 feet long on the Waxahachie Civic Center – run off the machine at the eaves, where installers are ready to carry them over the peak to the opposite roof edge. Panels that long require 15-20 workers to safely handle and place the new roofing, even in the best conditions.

Wayne State University Medical Office Building

The Wayne State University School of Medicine’s new Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences medical office building in Detroit was designed to create “visual impact” at its high-profile location along Interstate 75. It succeeds in doing so through the use of a zinc cladding system from Dri-Design on its exterior.

Wealthy Street Transit Operations Center

Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, The Rapid (Interurban Transit Partnership) is a growing transportation authority that serves the Grand Rapids metropolis and surrounding regions. The new Wealthy Street Transit Operations Center, which is LEED® Silver certified, is the city’s latest project in its sustainable transportation system initiative. CENTRIA architectural metal products are featured on the facility.

Weekends Overstock Warehouse

The use of color was an important factor in designing the WOW! building in LoneTree, CO. To complement the bright corporate colors on the building’s sign, Laminators Inc.'s Omega-Lite® aluminum composite panels were selected to define and accentuate the building’s entrance.

Weitman Hangar

It may look like Captain America’s home, but the house near North Plains, OR with a decorative star and big blue door actually belongs to Jim and Star Weitman, a free-spirited couple with a zest for life and passion for flying. Newly remodeled, their home includes an attached 40’ x 40’ hangar featuring a 38’-wide polycarbonate-clad bifold door—in blue—manufactured by Schweiss Doors.

With new branches opening up all across the country, Wells Fargo has looked to ALPOLIC as a means of ensuring the new buildings would be up to snuff aesthetically.

Wendy's Renovation - Chandler, AZ

Beginning in 2012, Wendy’s corporate office rolled out an improved branding and image activation strategy geared towards updating the exterior of their stores across the United States. The company plans to invest up to $500 million by the end of 2015 in order to reach its goal of reimaging 50 percent of company restaurants.

Wesleyan Celebration Centre

Forty years ago, the parishioners at the Moncton Wesleyan Church in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, numbered just 65. Things have changed a lot since then. Today the church is the largest in Atlantic Canada, with Sunday services and special events attracting upwards of 2,000 people. They meet in the new Wesleyan Celebration Centre. It was part of a 36,200 sq. ft. addition constructed with the aid of metal building systems and components from Robertson Building Systems.

West Coast Self Storage

When Drew Bowlds, owner of Bowlds Construction and four self-storage sites in the state of Washington, got the idea to use Schweiss hangar doors on the exterior of his new self-storage facility, it was a game-changer. In addition to solving issues related to codes, the integration of the doors actually helped his new West Coast Storage facility become more profitable.

West Edge Tower

Spanning 39 stories and more than 500,000 total square feet, the new West Edge Tower in downtown Seattle has already become an iconic architectural feature in the city’s celebrated skyline. The tower relies on a highly efficient mix of cladding materials, including curtain wall, glass, masonry and high-performance insulated metal panels by Metl-Span.

West Haven City Hall

From an architectural standpoint, the new West Haven City Hall in Ogden, UT, needed to be innovative and bold, yet warm and inviting. Solerno Architects of Ogden succeeded in creating such a building and environment by mixing masonry with metal for its design. The selected metal roofing profile was BattenLok from MBCI. Over 11,000 sq. ft. of straight and curved panels were required. The project's general contractor was Big "D" Construction. All Metals Fabrications handled the metal panel installation. Both companies are headquartered in Ogden.

West Hawaii Sewer Company Mezzanines

Ordinarily, function is the sole consideration in the design of an industrial mezzanine. That’s what makes the pair of free-standing mezzanine structures in Waikoloa, Hawaii, so special. Constructed for the West Hawaii Sewer Company in the summer 2009, these two units go above and beyond in terms of appearance…and their good looks were achieved with little more than a splash of color. The manufacturer was Panel Built Inc. of Blairsville, GA.

A hybrid metal building system, combining Varco Pruden Buildings’ Continuous Beam framing with conventional steel and bar joist construction, was used to create the West Michigan Aviation Academy in Grand Rapids, MI.

West Sacramento Community Center

Originally conceived as a senior center, the West Sacramento Community Center evolved into a more comprehensive facility. The building’s bold color palette of blues and oranges and the distinctive form of the elevated black box theater have made the center a local landmark. CENTRIA supplied metal cladding in three shades of blue for the complex.

West Tennessee School For The Deaf

Working around the schedule of the students at the West Tennessee School For The Deaf in Jackson, TN, Allen Searcy Builder-Contractor, Inc., of Union City, TN, completed a new library and gymnasium that blended five different construction materials into a unique structure. Allen Searcy turned to long-time partner and metal building manufacturer Ceco Building Systems to construct the gym.

West Village Commons - Towson University

Towson University wanted to create an inviting gathering place for students to socialize and study; one that included meeting and study rooms, dining and retail shops, and was infused with the spirit and energy of campus. With those goals as its guide, Baltimore-based GWWO Architects designed the university’s new West Village Commons. Seeking an alternative to glass for the building’s grand staircase and second floor atrium safety railings, the firm turned to Banker Wire for help.
