Williamson College of Business

The new 110,000 sq. ft. Williamson College of Business at Youngstown State University is three stories tall and encompasses nearly a full city block. Completed in August 2010 at a cost of $34 million, it represents the largest capital expenditure in YSU’s 102-year history. Noteworthy about the project, given its cost and stature, is that zinc wall panels and coping are featured on its exterior. The material was provided by RHEINZINK.

Williston Basin International Airport

Williston, North Dakota has a history deeply rooted in the railroad and agriculture industries, but a surge of oil-related jobs has brought new people and new construction. Case in point is the Williston Basin International Airport. Completed in 2019, it features a people-friendly terminal that reflects the history of the Williston Basin. Dri-Design Wall Panels were utilized to create a cohesive, welcoming look both inside the terminal and out.

Wilmington Organic Recycling Center

The recently-completed Wilmington Organic Recycling Center (WORC) is situated on a redeveloped brownfield site near the Port of Wilmington, DE. Driving the initial interest was the municipal landfill’s planned suspension of receiving yard waste. The plant is anchored by an 18,000-sq.-ft. blue Butler Manufacturing™ metal building.

Wimberley Condominiums Reroof

There’s always going to be competition when you’re bidding on a high-visibility re-roofing job. Sam Mott, owner of Wimberley Roofing in Wimberley, Texas, is not one to shy away from a little competition. After being awarded the contract, he made an old condominium shine again, with the help of metal roofing from McElroy Metal.

Winchester High School Reroof

The community of Winchester, Indiana was in desperate need of a new roof for its aging high school. Teachers and students were coexisting in an interior environment that was wet, humid and had a repulsive smell. It was decided that a retrofit metal roof system would be the best solution for the existing problem. MBCI, a leading manufacturer of metal roof and wall systems, was approved as the supplier for both the framing system and metal roof system for the 108,000 square foot project.

WinCo Foods Cold Storage Distribution Center

The construction of a new 862,000 sq. ft. cold-storage warehouse and distribution center in Phoenix gives WinCo Foods a more economically favorable way to serve its customers in Arizona, southern California and southern Nevada. That it is the largest food distribution center in the state is something for the Boise, ID-based grocery chain to be proud of. But it is also a feather in the cap of Kingspan Insulated Panels, maker of the more than 500,000 sq. ft. of insulated metal panels used for the mammoth building’s construction.

Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has expanded their gaming empire with the addition of the Wind Creek Wetumpka Casino, Alabama’s newest and largest. Completed in December of 2013, this $250 million casino features an 85,000 sq. ft. gaming floor and an attached 20 story luxury hotel to capitalize on the spectacular views of the nearby Coosa River. MetalTech-USA Flatlock panels, fabricated from RHEINZINK titanium zinc, were chosen to clad much of the façade of this facility.

Windsor High School Farm

Two steel-framed structures by Varco Pruden Buildings anchor the Windsor High School Farm, part of Isle Of Wight County Schools in southeast Virginia. Blueridge General of Norfolk, Virginia was the Varco Pruden Builder for the project. The designer was RRMM Architects of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Winn Science Center

The Winn Science Center at St. Mark’s School of Texas has become a signpost of the high quality of the new and upgraded buildings, with its classic copper roof and dome serving as signature design elements for the upscale campus – and they’ve also proved to be models of survivability in the face of severe weather. Petersen supplied more than 16,000 sq. ft. of its Snap-Clad panels in 16-oz. copper for use in flat roof portions of the project.

Winnipeg Intl. Airport Parkade

For its design of a new parking structure at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects wanted to use architectural metal mesh as an exterior cladding material. The challenge to find a product that provided the desired level of screening and the necessary amount of open area was met through the specification of a Facade mesh system from Cambridge Architectural of Cambridge, MD. The selected system features Cambridge's Scale pattern mesh attached in tension with custom Eclipse hardware. The Scale pattern features a 62% open area while providing the security, safety and visibility design team members wanted.

WMS Boathouse

Shortly after taking office, Chicago’s mayor Rahm Emanuel identified the Chicago River as “the city’s next recreational frontier.“ He announced plans to build four boathouses as “anchors to the river’s future development.“ The recently completed WMS Boathouse at Clark Park on the northwest side of the city is the second of the new boathouses to open and establishes an iconic presence on the river. Vertically oriented Flat Lock panels from RHEINZINK America Inc. cover significant portions of the building's main façade.

Wolf Creek Branch Library

The Wolf Creek neighborhood in the southwest suburb of Atlanta has been undergoing a resurgence in recent years. Another piece to the area's comeback was added with the opening of the Wolf Creek Library in September 2014. Designed by Leo A. Daly, the building's exterior is clad with ALPOLIC®/fr 4mm fire-retardant aluminum composite material from ALPOLIC® Materials | Mitsubishi Plastics Composites America.

Wolf Modern Townhomes

A three-unit rental complex built on a 0.21-acre site in a revitalized residential area of Harrisonburg, Va., Wolf Modern Townhomes was designed to bring modern, sustainable living to its residents. Hans Harman, the president of Velocity Property Group, a Harrisonburg, Va.-based design-build development firm, wanted to maximize the density of the site while creating an urban, modern multi-family space. The modern appearance was aided by metal wall panels from ATAS International Inc., Allentown, Pa. Metal roofing by ATAS was also utilized.

Wolfe Center For The Arts

The new Wolfe Center For The Arts at Bowling Green State University provides a space on campus where the arts can flourish and robust interdisciplinary collaborations can take root. Rising dramatically from a flat site, the building’s metal panels – supplied by CENTRIA - and tilted geometry have introduced a completely new aesthetic to an otherwise traditional group of campus buildings.

Woodstock Commons

Woodstock, NY is best known as the site of a small music festival that made some news in 1969. But it’s also a bucolic, Upstate New York village that prides itself on its own style of quirky, small-town charm. A recently opened affordable-rental project features buildings designed to fit into the area’s rural character, topped by metal roof panels from Petersen.

Woodward Avenue Parking Garage

Ohio Gratings Inc. of Canton, OH, provided 340 egg crate-style aluminum grating panels for use as screening on a parking garage connected to a newly converted residential loft-style apartment complex in downtown Detroit, MI. The panels utilized were constructed of pressure-locked material with an opening size of 4" x 12", framed with 2" x 2" square aluminum tubing and finished with clear anodizing.

Woodward Headquarters - Lincoln Campus

With a new era comes a new way to build. Independent aerospace systems manufacturer Woodward’s $200 million, 363,000 sq. ft. Lincoln Campus - a project three years in the making and featuring products from CENTRIA - opened for business in 2016.

Word Of Life Christian Center

Utility costs in Hawaii are higher than most of the United States, so it’s not uncommon to see solar panels installed on larger projects to take advantage of the state’s plentiful sunshine. After repairing a 30-year-old standing seam roof, the Word of Life Christian Center in Honolulu installed an 82 kW solar array, attached with clamps from S-5!.
