Salem Hospital

A new seven-story, 360,000 sq. ft. tower is at the heart of Salem Hospital’s downtown campus in Salem, OR. The projected $285 million expansion project opened on time and $2 million under budget. Approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of Citadel Envelope 2000® Rain Screen (RS) metal composite material panels were utilized. The panels were finished in Seafoam Green and Sandstone. In addition, 17,000 sq. ft. of Citadel GlazeGuard® 1000 glazing infill panels were also installed.

Salk Middle School

With energy efficiency and aesthetics both important considerations, the designers of the new Salk Middle School in Spokane, WA, chose products from Kingspan Insulated Panels - North America as major components of construction. The project's first phase of construction utilized Kingspan's BENCHMARK Designwall 2000 panels while the second phase incorporated the company's KarrierPanel backup wall system under corrugated siding.

Sam Houston Elementary School

Situated on the Gulf Coast of Texas just east of Houston, Port Arthur is a picturesque location that also faces natural challenges like 2017’s Hurricane Harvey. With that in mind, when the Port Arthur Independent School District passed a $190 million bond issue and was planning the construction of two new elementary schools, they chose The Garland Company Inc.'s R-Mer Shield for the metal roofs.

Sam's Tavern

Sam’s Tavern, located on Pike Street in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood, is said to serve not only the best Bloody Mary in the city, but according to USA Today, one of the best in the entire country! As with any acclaimed bar or restaurant, seating at Sam’s can sometimes be hard to come by. To help boost capacity and provide the best possible experience for customers, the pub has a patio seating area that can be used rain or shine, thanks to the incorporation of glass-clad hydraulic doors from Schweiss Doors.

Samso Energy Academy

In addition to private residences, the Danish Island of Samsø is home to the Samsø Energy Academy, a public entity that assists Danish and foreign scientists in sustainability endeavors. The Academy building itself is designed to meet ecological and sustainability principles and to that end, its roof is comprised of 6,800 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK® integrated solar Quick Step panels. They support 1,000 sq. ft. of photovoltaic cells and solar hot water generating panels that provide domestic hot water for the facility.

Samsung Device Solutions America Headquarters

Samsung’s new 1.1 million square foot Device Solutions America headquarters building is nearing completion, and turning heads. The impressive 10-story masterpiece in San Jose, CA is visible from miles away, standing dominant among the surrounding Silicon Valley low-rise sprawl. Sitting atop the new headquarters, helping streamline its equipment-cluttered roof, is 900' lineal feet of screening from RoofScreen Mfg.

San Antonio Riverwalk Overpass Art Displays

San Francisco International Airport Air Traffic Control Tower

Soaring 210 feet over a latticework of bayside runways, the new air traffic control tower at San Francisco International Airport (SFO) was designed by Fentress Architects in the shape of a sleek, swirling beacon of metal and glass. A central highlight of the tower’s design is a unitized curtain wall, illuminated by a backlit glass façade, and accentuated by a framing system finished with Duranar Sunstorm XL Silver coating by PPG.

San Francisco International Airport Traffic Control Tower

Design of San Francisco International Airport’s new traffic control tower not only was focused on functional goals - including meeting seismic event standards, offering maximum sightlines and accommodating state-of-the-art electronics - it also needed to serve as an iconic symbol. Aluminum composite material from 3A Composites USA was selected to clad the tower.

San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building

Built in the early 1930s, the San Francisco War Memorial Veterans Building recently underwent a major restoration. Painstaking care was made to preserve the building's Beaux Arts-style architectural features and led to the choice of zinc roofing from IMETCO for the new roof.

San Jacinto College Allied Health and Natural Sciences Building

While sustainability ranks high on the list of qualities architects seek, durability is equally important. It’s great when building materials are green, but it doesn’t matter if they aren't also able to withstand wear and tear. The fabricators at Byrne Metals knew that wouldn’t be a problem at San Jacinto College, where ALPOLIC aluminum composite panels had been chosen for the school’s new allied health and natural sciences building.

San Jose International Airport Terminal B

The new Terminal B concourse at the Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport in California is the first monumental architectural project constructed with Duranar® powder coatings by PPG Industries' industrial coatings business. Duranar Regal White powder coatings were applied to a series of curved, perforated metal panels that arc over the main Terminal B structure. Overly Manufacturing, Greensburg, Pa., was the metal panel manufacturer.

An AEP Span metal roof system was the top choice when Catalyst Architecture LLC of Prescott, AZ set out to achieve LEED Platinum Certification and a Net-Zero energy design for the San Luis National Wildlife Refuge Complex Headquarters and Visitors Center. The center is located in central California near Los Banos.

Sandler Center For The Performing Arts

The gleaming new Sandler Center for the Performing Arts in Virginia Beach, VA fills a void in the region for a mid-size performing arts venue. The destination building that has ignited the public's enthusiasm and interest in the arts. Featured on the exterior of the gleaming new 86,000 sq. ft. facility is a subtantial amount of Citadel Envelope 2000® Rout and Return (RR) metal composite material panels. The panels are finished in Silver Metallic.

Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center

Stetson University, located in DeLand, Fla., halfway between Orlando and Daytona Beach, might be landlocked, but that hasn’t stopped the school’s rowing ambitions. The school christened a new boathouse - featuring curved metal roofing from Petersen - on the shores of nearby Lake Beresford in an effort to provide a home its rowing teams can be proud of, while also creating a home for its Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience.

Sands Family YMCA

The Sands Family YMCA is a 75,000 square-foot state-of-the-art multi-use facility that features an athletic facility, medical care facility and early learning center. CJS Architects designed the facility to to take the place of a 100-year-old YMCA in Canandaigua, New York. The replacement facility’s modern look was achieved with insulated metal panels from Kingspan.

Sanger Educational Complex

The 2020-21 school year is not like any other, leaving some educational buildings completely or nearly empty. A new structure waiting for students to arrive and thrive is the Sanger Educational Complex in California’s Sanger Unified School District. The complex houses middle school and high school campuses. An exploration of the complex reveals curves at the entrance to the kitchen, within the cafeteria, made from Flex-C Trac from Flex-Ability Concepts.
