Soul City Church

The leaders of the Soul City Church on Chicago’s west side sought help with plans for expansion to meet the needs of a growing congregation. The project evolved into a 29,000 square foot addition and 20,000 square foot renovation of the existing building, complete with insulated metal panels from Metl-Span.

South African Embassy

Among the more than 175 diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C., few stand out more than the South African Embassy on Massachusetts Avenue’s Embassy Row. Marked by its iconic Nelson Mandela statue, the embassy’s twin Dutch Colonial buildings are now joined in the middle by a new glass atrium shaded with a striking Cambridge Architectural wire mesh façade.

South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center

Metalwërks® provided design assistance and materials for highly-customized, vertically-oriented exterior louver fins for the South Boston Waterfront Transportation Center. Located in the dynamic Seaport District of Boston, MA, and partially spanning the existing I-90 tunnel structure, the new facility covers 650,000 square feet and contains around 1,500 parking spaces across nine levels.

South Florida Community College Performing Arts Center

Originally built in 1978, the South Florida Community College (SFCC) Theatre for the Performing Arts received a complete renovation, reopening in 2010. Now seating 1460 people, the interior glows with the contrast of brass architectural mesh panels–created with woven mesh by Cambridge Architectural–against red velvet trim and upholstery.

South Seattle Transfer And Recycling Center

The South Seattle (Washington) Transfer and Recycling Center has been transformed into a more advanced transfer station, thanks to the hard work of PHI Construction Inc., an American Buildings Company authorized Builder. As a result, PHI Construction received Building of the Year honors in the 2013 American Buildings Company Excellence in Design Awards competition.

South Shore Bone And Joint Center

The South Shore Bone and Joint Center is one of the latest improvements to the South Shore Hospital Health System. A joint venture of the South Shore Hospital and South Shore Orthopedics, this new outpatient facility will serve more than 700,000 residents in the southeastern Massachusetts region. Architectural metal products from CENTRIA played a key role in the facility’s design.

South Street Seaport - Pier 17

In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, the South Street Seaport was revitalized as an entertainment and retail destination for Manhattan locals and New York visitors. Within this re-emerging East River waterfront community, Pier 17 rises as a beacon of shops, restaurants and public spaces. The 300,000-square-foot building showcases an attractive, resilient four-story façade featuring wall panels made with RHEINZINK prePATINA® zinc.

South Texas College North Academic Classroom Building

It was built in hopes of encouraging students to stay and utilize resources on campus. If the building’s appearance plays any role in such decisions, then surely the goal has been met. Clad in brick, the North Academic Classroom building on the McAllen campus of South Texas College is made more inviting by the presence of colorful Thermolite ACM panels from Laminators Inc.

South Texas College Technology Campus Expansion

South Texas College officially opened its Technology Campus expansion in McAllen, Texas, in January 2018. The $9.3 million 72,000-square-foot STC Technology Campus expansion features offices and classrooms as well as computer, training and robotics labs and sits adjacent to the current campus.The project features 15,200 square feet of Alucobond® aluminum composite material by 3A Composites USA.

South Texas Research Facility

The South Texas Research Facility is the newest addition to the University of South Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. The length of approximately three football fields, this $150 million facility provides an additional 200,000 square feet of medical research space. Featured in the design are architectural metal products from CENTRIA.

Southern Cross Station

One of the most spectacular features of the Southern Cross Station in Melbourne, Australia, is the innovative Kalzip standing seam wave form roof that utilizes passive ventilation technology to extract exhaust fumes from the enclosed space, reducing the station’s energy consumption and contribution to carbon emissions.

Southern Food Brokers

Goodgame Company Inc. of Pell City, Alabama was awarded 1st Runner Up in American Buildings’ 2022 Excellence in Design Awards, as well as 1st Place in the Office category, for the Southern Food Brokers project in Lincoln, Alabama.

Southern General Hospital

Cladding specialists James & Taylor have created a shimmering, high-tech façade for Glasgow’s new £17 million maternity unit - reflecting its world-class status in a project involving the biggest ever single investment in Scottish health services. The stunning finish to the new unit at the city’s Southern General Hospital was created using five different acid-etched processes on Senses aluminum (aluminium) tiles with an anodized finish.

Southern Tier Brewery

Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood, NY, has grown rapidly since its inception in 2002. It now produces more than 30,000 barrels of beer annually. One of the primary reasons for this rapid success is its owners’ attention to the consistent quality of its award-winning products. The company’s new building reflects that same close attention to quality and detail. Constructed with a metal building system and components from Kansas City, MO-based Butler Manufacturing, the structure’s architectural style also reflects its location.

Southside Bank

When Southside Bank in Texas began a campaign to modernize its brand, management understood that the buildings it occupies play a significant role in branding. The existing flagship branch in Tyler, Texas, was re-imagined and renovated inside and out to reflect the contemporary way the bank now interacts with its customers. Metal products from Petersen were key design elements.

Southwest Airlines Maintenance Hangar

At the Orlando International Airport, Southwest Airlines re-roofed a 75,000 sq. ft. hangar using several metal construction industry veteran companies. Commercial Siding & Maintenance (CSM) of Houston, Texas was the contractor; Force Engineering & Testing of Humble, Texas provided engineering services; Roof Hugger Inc. of Odessa, Florida furnished their factory-notched sub-framing system; and McElroy Metal furnished the new metal roof system.

Southwest College

Southwest College, a Los Angeles-area community college in the Westmont neighborhood of the Inglewood district, has chosen Custom-Bilt Metals Cool Roof standing seam metal roofing to significantly reduce its energy costs and contribute to green building energy certification. Custom-Bilt Metals roofing products cover the college’s recently-completed new construction of facilities that include a student services and activities center, maintenance and operations center, parking structure, field house, and general use and concessions building.

Southwest Missouri Humane Society

A 15,000-plus square feet custom metal building from Star Building Systems, combined with cedar post-and-beam framing, created the Southwest Missouri Humane Society facility which is situated in Springfield, MO. Utilizing 17,809 square feet of MBCI’s BattenLok HS roof system in a Natural Patina color, coupled with stucco and rock exterior wall treatments, resulted in this eye-catching project.

SouthWest Transit Offices

Minnesota's SouthWest Transit is the public transit agency for the Twin Cities suburbs of Chaska, Chanhassen, Eden Prairie and Carver, offering service from Downtown Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota, Normandale Community College and Best Buy Headquarters. When the agency needed to expand its offices in Eden Prairie, Sheet Metal Supply (SMS), with a wide variety of architectural offerings, was among the suppliers called upon to provide the creative construction solutions.

Southwestern College Performing Arts Center

Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, has a new Performing Arts Center. With the design plan by Tucker Sadler Architects of San Diego, the space encourages the development of students’ talents while connecting to the community. Dri-Design wall panels wrap portions of the building’s curtainwall, and Dri-Design Perforated Imaging panels were used to create the sun glyph.
