With more than 25 years of experience as a crop duster, Rich Sigurdson of Olivia, MN knows a thing or two about farming. And he knows a bit about hangar construction too. That's why he designed his new hangar to include Schweiss bifold doors at both ends. The doors provide the reliability Sigurdson was looking for, while also adding to the efficiency of his business.

Conventional wisdom says to limit the number of metal roof penetrations whenever possible. The fewer the number, experts say, the lower the risk of a leak developing at some point due to less-than-perfect workmanship. The same holds true for panel splice points. Those that don’t exist can never become a problem. But how do you eliminate splice points on a roof that’s 136’ wide? That was the challenge at Silver Run Elementary School in Millville, NJ, and was met by the use of an Englert jobsite-rollformed metal roof system.

Solid construction and aesthetic style led the developers of SilverWing at Sandpoint airpark to select hangar doors from Schweiss Doors.

With its engaging design and energy efficient features, the Simcoe County Administrative Centre in Midhurst, Ontario is the pre-eminent public service building in Simcoe County. Its status was earned with the recent construction of a 70,000 sq. ft. addition clad in large part with titanium zinc from RHEINZINK America Inc.

As a 30-year pilot in the captain’s seat for Continental and United Airlines, Kirk Simonds has been a part of many successful landings. In retirement, his landing spot is in The Woodlands, Texas, about 30 miles northwest of Houston. Going up instead of out, he expanded his garage in 2017. As part of the project, he replaced his old garage door with a state-of-the-art 18' x 7' bifold door from Schweiss Doors.

A new 64-foot by 64-foot private-use residential hangar, recently built by Peter C. Schmidt Construction and owned by Merri Ann Simonson, is located near Roche Harbor Airport on San Juan Island, WA. The hangar has a 60-foot wide, 18-foot tall bifold liftstrap door from Schweiss Doors. It has an automatic arm latch system.

The Sims Sunset Park Materials Recovery Facility, a public-private collaboration between Sims Metal Management and the City of New York, has been making headlines and physical progress at an amazing rate. Tasked with processing Department of Sanitation waste from the city’s five boroughs, the new facility - featuring Nucor Building Systems products - was commissioned as a part of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s 2030 PlaNYC goal to improve air quality, reduce traffic and divert 75 percent of the city’s solid waste from landfills.

When wholesale foods distributor Sirna & Sons Produce decided on a major expansion to its warehouse and offices in Ravenna, OH, the aesthetic goal was modern industrial. To achieve it, the project's architect made extensive use of insulated metal wall panel systems from Metl-Span.

A 2,000 sq. ft. addition to the Siskin Steel & Supply building in Chattanooga, TN has made a huge impact on the appearance of the company’s headquarters. Linked to an existing brick structure, the expansion includes a new lobby, administrative offices and training room. Approximately 1,250 sq. ft. of Dri-Design 18 ga. stainless steel wall panels were utilized to create the transformation. The addition was designed by Franklin & Associates of Chattanooga, TN, with the installation of the metal wall panels handled by GenTech Construction Co., also of Chattanooga.

To meet the increasing demand for lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, SK Battery America has established a new production facility in Commerce, GA. To ensure the factory building is as energy efficient as EVs are intended to be, the exterior walls of the massive facility were clad with insulated metal panels from Kingspan.

HPA architects, based in Irvine, CA, incorporated a number of cladding products on the exterior of the new 1.82 million sq. ft. Skechers Distribution facility in Rancho Belago, CA. Among them was 86,000 square feet of Bright Silver Omega-Lite aluminum composite panels, manufactured by Laminators Incorporated. When certified, the project will be the largest LEED certified structure in the U.S.

To keep up with the company’s growing customer base, SKS Bottle & Packaging Inc. required a new, larger facility. To keep any interruption of service as brief as possible, the 140,000 square foot office and warehouse was constructed with insulated metal panels (IMPs) from Metl-Span.

Dri-Design panels have been known to turn heads for their looks, but they were selected for the Skyway Library in Seattle because they can turn around a building. The entire exterior of the library is wrapped in Dri-Design Wall Panels, creating a landmark destination for the downtown district. The joint venture architects of BuildingWork and Weinstein AU, both of Seattle, were adamant that the last piece of metal panel had to circle back and meet the first—with precision.

Providence College in Providence, R.I., recently installed a metal roof system with thin-film building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) on the Slavin Center, the college’s student center. The BIPV system on the Slavin Center is known as ATA-Solar, manufactured by ATAS International. Available in a variety of panel options, the ATA-Solar system used on the center’s roof utilizes 24-gauge steel standing-seam roofing panels in a Silversmith color with a thin-film amorphous silicon laminate, by Uni-Solar, applied to the panels.

Completed in December 2010, the new Slidell Cancer Center in Slidell, LA, was designed to meet the region’s cancer treatment needs now and well into the future. Developed by Slidell Memorial Hospital, the $20 million, three-story project features 51,000 sq. ft. of space, with nearly one third dedicated to future use. The building's exterior features a mix of materials, including ALPOLIC aluminum composite material panels fabricated by Altech Panel Systems.

The 4,800 sq. ft. Slotnick residence in Glencoe, IL is the first new home in Chicago’s North Shore area to achieve LEED Platinum certification, the highest LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating possible. It's also one of the few LEED homes to take a non-modernist approach to its exterior. Metal roofing by Petersen is featured.

In September 2016, Smart 72 of San Luis Obispo, Calif., contracted with Cal Valley Contractors Inc. of Bakersfield, Calif., and Arris Studio Architects of San Luis Obispo to complete their new office facility. To assist in the design and engineering of the Smart 72 facility, Cal Valley Contractors worked with Ceco Building Systems on the 14,679 square-foot metal building.

SMC³'s new 80,000-square-foot headquarters in Peachtree, Georgia, features an exterior clad with RHEINZINK-GRANUM® Skygrey architectural zinc. Designed by Jefferson Architecture, the sustainable, resilient, natural metal and its evolving patina reflect the company's enduring, innovative and dynamic culture. The project showcases one of the first examples in the U.S. with RHEINZINK-GRANUM material.

Smith Brothers Farms – a Northwest regional food supplier – experienced booming growth during the COVID-19 pandemic when thousands of consumers were using grocery delivery services. Four years later, sales continue to rise for the fourth-generation food supplier and the company is growing its physical footprint. Insulated metal panels chosen for a new facility in Federal Way, WA are from Kingspan Insulated Metal Panels North America.

The new Smith Elementary School replaced an aging 50-year-old facility that no longer met modern standards. Its architects developed a plan that will serve the community for decades to come, with a metal-paneled exterior that certainly looks toward the future. PAC-CLAD panels from Petersen play a key role in the design of the Travis County, Texas project.
