Sharp Trucking

A building owner, hoping to construct a new office with a particular look and energy efficiency in mind, ended up pleased with insulated metal panels from Metl-Span.

Sharpsburg Community Library

The new Sharpsburg Community Library in Sharpsburg, Pa., is making a splash in this small town a few miles north of Pittsburgh. Instead of the one-story concrete block building library patrons previously frequented, they now have a vivid, multi-colored facility - thanks to PAC-CLAD metal wall panels by Petersen - that has become a highlight of the town.

Sheet Metal Workers Local 36 Union Hall

Charged with transforming the dilapidated manufacturing facility into a state-of-the-art office and training center was Treanor Architects of Lawrence, KS. It developed a plan for the project that incorporates the latest energy-efficient features including Metl-Span insulated metal wall panels.

Sheffield Barndominium

The exterior of the "barndominium", owned by Damon and Maggie Sheffield of Webber Falls, OK, prominently features metal products from Star Building Systems. Combining a residence with a large garage/storage area, the structure measures 52’ wide x 100’ long x 18’ high with a 3:12 roof slope.

Shelburne Green Business Park

The Shelburne Green Business Park in Shelburne, VT, offers 40,000 sq. ft. of Class A office space in a setting reminiscent of an old New England town. And while its earliest buildings are more than half a century old, the development as a whole looks brand new thanks to a just-completed renovation that saw original wall claddings replaced with new insulated metal panel systems from Lewisville, TX-based Metl-Span.

Shelby Baptist Medical Center

As the biggest single healthcare project in the history of Shelby County, AL, the new South Tower at Shelby Baptist Medical Center features over 100 new private patient rooms, an intensive care unit twice the size as the previous unit, and a new covered patient pickup and drop off area. The four-story addition includes 37,000 square feet of Bright Silver Omega-Lite aluminum composite panels, manufactured by Laminators Incorporated of Hatfield, PA.

Shenaniganz

The new Shenaniganz family entertainment center in Rockwall, TX offers 75,000 sq. ft. of family fun and dining in a uniquely designed environment. In addition to a 7,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art arcade, activities include laser tag, bowling, go carts and rock climbing plus dining venues. Approximately 2,800 linear feet of 20 gauge Flex-Ability Concepts’ Flex-C Trac in 2 ½”, 3 5/8” and 6” widths were utilized to frame the intricate radiuses. A limited amount of 4” 18 gauge Flex-C Trac was also used.

Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel

Thermolite™ aluminum composite insulating panels from Laminators Inc. are utilized as infill in the curtain wall facade of Arizona's largest hotel. The Phoenix Sheraton was designed by Arquitectonica of Miami, FL, and features two colors of the 1"-thick, Kynar-finished panels. Thermolite panels are manufactured by Laminators Inc. of Hatfield, PA. Handling their installation on this project was K.T. Fabrication Inc. of Chandler, AZ.

Sherwood Middle School

Sherwood Middle School in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts utilizes a simple technology to add energy efficiency to the structure that achieved credits in the Massachusetts Collaborative for High Performance Schools. That technology is InSpire, a transpired solar collector wall system from ATAS International.

Sheyenne Plaza

Occupying an entire city block in West Fargo, ND, Sheyenne Plaza is hard to overlook. But what makes the $12 million, 124,000 sq. ft. building stand out even more is a design that includes three colors of Omega-Lite aluminum composite panels from Laminators Inc.

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab

The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab recently added a new outpatient facility in Burr Ridge, IL. The 25,000-sq.-ft. facility is topped by a unique, standing-seam metal roof from Petersen, with angled panels that create a vision of wings in flight – and generate room for clerestory windows that help fill the interior with natural daylight.

Shoe Carnival Headquarters

Woodward Development & Construction, Inc. faced tough competition from economic development agencies in Florida, Kentucky and Indiana and other interests who were already pursuing the new facilities associated with the announced relocation of Shoe Carnival, a major shoe store chain based in Evansville, IN. At stake were a 60,000 sq. ft. Class “A” headquarters building, a 410,000 sq. ft distribution center and 120 new jobs. Metal building systems from Butler Manufacturing Corp. were integral components of both these projects.

Shoemaker Travel Center

The new Shoemaker Travel Center, built along a busy Nebraska highway in Lincoln, was completed in November 2009 with the aid of products from Ceco Building Systems. The 29,000 sq. ft. facility features steel framing, standing seam metal roofing and metal wall panels. The owner describes the building as “a showcase for the metal building industry.”

Shops At Highland Village

Located 29 miles northwest of Dallas, TX, The Shops at Highland Village is an upscale, mixed-use lifestyle center consisting of approximately 350,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurants and 32,000 sq. ft. of office space. More than 108,000 sq. ft. of Petersen’s PAC-CLAD material in a variety of profiles—including 16” Snap-On, 18” High Snap-On, 16” Snap-Clad and 11” Flush Panels—were utilized to create the desired look. All material was finished in Custom Literary Green and Weathered Zinc.

As a diverse, progressive beach community, Santa Monica, CA proved an ideal location for the building of a boutique hotel that is just as progressive in its use of stainless steel to surpass the requirements for LEED Silver certification. The new hotel features stainless steel shingles fabricated from Contrarian Metal Resources' InvariMatte® Stainless.

Show Low Public Library

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation, a premier nationwide provider of metal panels for the building and construction industry, supplied metal roofing that tops the new Show Low Public Library in Show Low, AZ, providing an eco-friendly roofing option with an aesthetic that expresses both local charm and a modern edge. The library is the first ground-up build of its kind for the community, and marked the initial phase of a two-part streetscape improvement project.

ShoWare Center

Though not necessarily by intention, the use of mirrored stainless steel panels for the building’s angled soffit creates the eye-catching illusion of bent support columns outside the new ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. The soffit panels, along with the matching mirror-finish stainless steel column covers, were manufactured by Firestone Metal Products of Anoka, MN. Completed in December 2008, the ShoWare Center is a 154,000 sq. ft. multi-purpose entertainment event center that also serves as the ice hockey home of the Seattle Thunderbirds semi-professional team.

Shrimp Boat Restaurant

Architect Bayne Collins was thumbing through a book on old Cuba when he spotted the picture of a 19th Century Cuban cigar factory that would ultimately become the inspiration for his design of a new oceanfront restaurant building in Panama City, Florida called the Shrimp Boat. Among the materials used for the building's construction was jobsite-rollformed Englert metal roofing.

Siemens Wind Turbine Facility

The 300,000 sq. ft. Siemens Wind Turbine Facility in Hutchinson, KS produces nacelles for the company's 2.3-MW and 3.0-MW wind power turbines. Given the factory’s sustainable mission, it was important that the building itself was as well. The result is a factory – featuring metal products from CENTRIA - that achieved LEED® Gold certification.

Sierra Canyon School

The artistic shade screen on the new Science and Humanities Building at the Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, CA, offers a pleasing break from the ordinary for students looking through it and for passers-by looking at it. The curved screen, made of perforated Kalzip aluminum panels, is a key design component of the 54,000-square-foot building that includes classrooms, a library, science and laboratory facilities, and a student center.
