FDNY EMS Station 27

In the 1990’s, FDNY’s EMS stations were designed according to a prototype that relied heavily on masonry for its overall aesthetics. In 2006 however, New York City implemented a new design protocol for city-owned projects, placing a stronger emphasis on unique architectural character. The recently completed EMS Station 27 in the Bronx reflects that new direction. Utilized for its design was 6,300 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK architectural titanium zinc.

FDNY Marine 1 Firehouse

That it sits dockside is one of the things that makes Manhattan’s newest firehouse unusual. But what makes the 8,500 sq. ft. exceptional is its design. The iconic-looking structure is clad with 15,000 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK titanium zinc, manufactured by RHEINZINK America Inc.

FECHAC Regional Office Building

Designed by the architectural firm Grupo ARKHOS, the Chihuahua’s Businessmen Foundation (FECHAC) Regional Office in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, embodies FECHAC’s core values of giving, common good, solidarity and subsidiarity through four 40-foot-tall, 13-foot-wide volumes on the primary façade, clad in tessellated Reynobond Aluminum Composite Material (ACM).

Feldmeier Equipment Co.

The new corporate headquarters and manufacturing facility for Feldmeier Equipment in Syracuse, New York is a hybrid structure that combines a 103,000 sq. ft. custom engineered metal building system for manufacturing, by Varco Pruden Buildings, with a 22,500 sq. ft. conventional building that houses office and support areas.

Ferguson Box

With increasing business and a 27,000 sq. ft. reduction in their total building space, achieving maximum efficiency and organization was essential for Charlotte, NC-based Ferguson Box. Wildeck® material handling solutions provided the necessary components to facilitate the reduction in square footage. More importantly, by strategically locating the mezzanine, a “core” area for supplies was established close to manufacturing.

Fermilab SBN Near Detector Building

Holabird & Root Architects of Chicago specified a bifold door from Schweiss Doors on what turned out to be an award-winning project. A 20'-10" x 23'-9" bifold liftstrap door was installed in the new 4,500-square-foot SBN Near Detector Building. The door features gray liftstraps, electric photo eye sensors, warning lights and horns, a top-drive motor, an automatic latching system and an emergency back-up system.

Festival Of The Arts Façade And Frontage

The new façade, frontage and promenade created to distinguish the exhibition grounds for the Festival of Arts, one of the country’s oldest and most highly acclaimed juried fine arts shows, is itself a work of art. Among the materials utilized to help create the attractive new entrance is Reynobond® aluminum composite material from Alcoa Architectural Products.

Festo Regional Service Center

Brand loyalty drives purchases for all types of consumer products, everything from cars to phones to shoes to foods and much, much more. Product preference is slightly different when it comes to construction, but designers, contractors and building owners do tend to go with what they know. That's why the people at Festo had no problem with panels from Kingspan Insulated Panels being specified for the company's new facility in Maineville, OH.

Few Quad - Duke University

Buildings at prestigious universities often take on iconic status, as many provide literally 100-plus years of service to make them key focal points that define the campus. Such is the case with Duke University in Durham, NC. When it came time to restore the copper leaderheads on Few Quad at Duke, it’s certain that the selection of replacement materials was not taken lightly. Ornametals Manufacturing, LLC stepped in to provide exactly what was needed for this historic restoration, in the form of copper leaderheads that matched the existing ones.

Fifth Sun Graphics

Fifth Sun Graphics in Chico, CA, is a 42,000 sq. ft. facility that combines offices and warehouse space in one facility. The project used Open Web framing by VP Buildings. In addition, VP’s SLR architectural/structural standing seam roofing in a Colonial Red color is featured on the roof, along with Classic Beige-colored Panel Rib metal wall panels and TextureClad panels.

Finley Center

The Finley Center sports complex and event venue provides a unique blend of multi-functional space for community sports and fitness, as well as convention and entertainment facilities to boost the local economy in Hoover, AL. The project’s modern design called for a dynamic, all-metal façade featuring more than 100,000 square feet of Metl-Span insulated metal wall and roof panels.

Fire & Emergency Services Training Institute

Innovation is one of the defining features of the new Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) at Toronto Pearson International Airport. Located at the airport's west end, the $13.5 million facility provides leading-edge education and intensive training for emergency and crisis situations. Just as advanced as its educational program is its design. It incorporates a number of energy saving features including a Solarwall® passive solar heated air induction exterior wall system. The building was designed by Kleinfeldt Mychajlowycz Architects of Toronto.

Firecreek Restaurant

Built originally as a saw mill and converted to a paper mill in 1881, the Brandywine Paperboard Mill had stood abandoned and dilapidated for years. Located on the banks of the Brandywine River in Downingtown, PA, the mill has now been transformed into the upscale Firecreek Restaurant. Playing a key role in the building's rebirth were two types of metal roofing products from Petersen Aluminum Corp.

First Baptist Church – Wimberley, Texas

The 450 members of First Baptist Church in Wimberley, Texas, were anxious to get into their new location in the heart of Texas Hill Country not only because they needed the room, but because the purchaser of the old facility had given them a time limit in which to relocate. COSCO and Associates, Inc., of Crestview, Florida, a design/build construction company that specializes in building places of worship, busily got to work, teaming with Ceco Building Systems to create a beautiful worship facility - using steel framing - with the “Hill Country” look requested by the church.

First Church Of The Nazarene Of Pasadena

Every fall, southern California residents brace themselves for the annual Santa Ana winds that blow through the region. In 2011, the Santa Ana windstorm was the worst southern California had seen in more than a decade, destroying the roof of the First Church Of The Nazarene Of Pasadena. When it came time for reroofing, a standing seam metal roof from The Garland Co., Inc. was selected.

First State Bank

First State Bank prides itself on being a strong, supportive bank for the vibrant Russellville, Ark., community. While the bank's operations and staff lived up to that motto, the Main Street Downtown location’s decor was not expressing it. A recent lobby renovation breathed life back into the branch, especially with a curved ceiling cloud created with Flex-Ability Concepts' Flex-C Arch.

Fishkill Recreation

Recurring roof leaks were becoming a problem with the original standing seam metal roof at the Fishkill (NY) Recreation building. To address the problem, the town opted for a Roof Hugger sub-framing system where the original roofing panels stay in place. The Roof Hugger sub-purlins fit over the seams of the 25-year-old metal panels and are attached through the old roof and into the original roof structural framing system.

Fletcher Allen Health Center

The beauty of Contrarian Metal Resources’ InvariMatte-finish stainless steel is evident in the design of a curved concourse at the Education and Conference Center of Fletcher Allen Health Center in Burlington, VT. It features approximately 60,000 sq. ft. of the exterior wall panels and standing seam roofing formed from the material. The concourse was constructed as part of the Fletcher Allen Health Center Renaissance Project, under the direction of Tsoi/Kobus & Associates of Cambridge, MA, and Freeman, French, Freeman of Burlington, VT. Kalkreuth Roofing & Sheet Metal of Wheeling, WV, fabricated and installed the panels.

Fletcher Jones Audi/Volkswagen

The complete renovation of Fletcher Jones Audi/Volkswagen in Chicago is a striking example of the use of Dri-Design’s new Texture Series panels to provide a uniquely accented design element. The Audi portion of the dealership has been re-faced with the exciting new product, while the Volkswagen side of the building is now skinned with conventional Dri-Design rainscreen metal panels. The total amount of Dri-Design products used on the project was approximately 15,000 sq. ft.

FlightSafety International

With nearly 10 acres under roof and 40,000 square feet of office space, FlightSafety International’s new facility in Broken Arrow, OK is massive. The equipment manufactured at the plant–aircraft flight simulators, visual systems and aeronautical displays–is high-tech. Fittingly, so is the building's look, thanks to little touches like the addition of Citadel ACM panels around the building's entrance.
