M.E. Yacht Restoration

M.E. Yacht Restoration of Holland, Mich., wrapped up the second phase of construction last summer, completing its new 70,000-square-foot, three-story state-of-the-art storage, restoration and office facility near Lake Michigan. The fully insulated building also features a couple of doors from Schweiss Doors.

Tyler, TX Fire Station #5

About half way between Dallas and the Louisiana border lies the growing community of Tyler, Texas. As the city continues to invest in the future, both in the private and public sectors, the Tyler Fire Station #5 provides a great example for what’s to come. It is topped with a curved metal roof from McElroy Metal, featuring panels finished with a premium Sherwin-Williams paint.

American AgCredit Headquarters

American AgCredit’s new headquarters in Santa Rosa, CA speaks to the company’s ever-growing, ever-changing business model. The energy-efficient building, designed by TLCD Architecture, Santa Rosa, is distinctive for its curved forms and natural materials. Perforated Series Wall Panels from Dri-Design, made from VMZINC, add a timeless warmth, durability and beauty.

AEP Ardmore Service Center

Combining a variety of metal products from Varco Pruden Buildings, the AEP Ardmore Service Center in Fort Wayne, IN is both visually appealing and functional. The 84,000 sq. ft. facility features an inviting office area with maintenance shop space to service vehicles owned by the project's owner, American Electric Power Service Corp.

The Linx

What was once a concrete warehouse in East Watertown, MA is now The Linx, a contemporary commercial office complex. The design firm behind the $60 million adaptive reuse architectural marvel used a mix of materials that included aluminum composite materials from Arconic and 3A Composites, and perforated metal panels from Morin, a Kingspan Group Company.

Le Peterson Condominiums

Located in one of Montreal's most vibrant and sought-after neighborhoods, the new Le Peterson condominiums offer a unique architectural design. The 35-story building is more notable for its signature glass balconies but insulated metal wall panels from Metl-Span were nonetheless integral to its overall construction success.

Captiva Island Fire Control District

The Captiva Island Fire Control District had two mandates for the construction of its new fire station: blend into the architecture of the historic district, and be strong enough to withstand hurricanes. Located in Lee County, Fla., the barrier island is just offshore in the sparkling waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The island has historically been impacted by several hurricanes. Metal roofing by Petersen is prominently featured on the facility.

Hardin Memorial Hospital

Exponential growth of staff and services, in addition to the rapidly changing standards in modern architecture, spurred the decision to embark on a $90 million expansion to Hardin Memorial Hospital’s facilities in Elizabethtown, Ky. Architectural metal products from CENTRIA played a key role in the design of the new facility.

Jett Residence

Prior to its near-total reconstruction, the Jett Residence was an overgrown structure hidden in a grove of trees in Iowa City, IA. The strikingly-renovated cottage now serves as a retreat house for its owners. In addition to retaining a significant portion of the original, locally-made red brick, the reborn residence is topped with RHEINZINK roof shingles, reminiscent in look to shingles that topped the dwelling 50 years earlier.

Daytona International Speedway

Legendary race car driver A.J. Foyt called the Daytona International Speedway “the prettiest speedway in the world.” The iconic speedway is even prettier these days, after a $400 million “reimagining” called DAYTONA Rising. Kingspan Insulated Panels played a big part of giving the facility an extensive new facelift.

Pavilion At The Toyota Music Factory

Everything is bigger in Texas. You’ll get no argument from visitors to the new Toyota Music Factory in Irving. The sprawling 16.7-acre entertainment complex features 20 restaurants and bars, a movie theater and even a bowling alley. The linchpin of the entire development is the Pavilion at The Music Factory, a 4,000-seat concert hall that can quickly convert to an 8,000-seat amphitheater by opening bifold liftstrap doors from Schweiss Doors.

The Cleveland School of the Arts is committed to making a long-term impact on its students, in humanities, sciences and the arts. The new school building was designed with Dri-Design VMZINC panels to impact the neighborhood and make an artful statement for decades to come. Zinc helps ground the building and provides a strong aesthetic, thereby creating a trademark feature on the public thoroughfare side of the school.

The University Of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital

The new University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital is state-of-the-art in every way. To create a welcoming, awe-inspiring environment for its young patients, the project's design team added giant louvers as wall decor inside the main entrance. The louvers are finished with 36 custom colors of Valspar paint, in a soothing palette of greens and blues.

Liberty University Football Practice Facility

The Liberty University athletic staff and student-athletes had a great deal to celebrate at the ribbon-cutting ceremony of their spacious new Indoor Football Practice Facility in August 2017. The $29 million, 95,000-square-foot structure, featuring insulated metal panels (IMPs) from Metl-Span, represents a substantial recruitment tool and a commitment to the success of the Lynchburg, Va.-based university football program.

Austin Independent School District Performing Arts Center

The magnificent new Austin Independent School District Performing Arts Center has drawn rave reviews from all quarters. The 62,000 sq. ft. facility, featuring metal panels from Petersen, serves all Austin ISD schools and offers a 1,200-seat auditorium that will host concerts and theatrical performances in a 250-seat black box theatre and 100-seat multipurpose room.

St. Pius Church

When Louisiana and Cajun styles marry and the talents of an architect and construction team seamlessly merge, the result is the impressive St. Pius Church in Lafayette, La. This structure, the first new church in Lafayette in 22 years, replaces a smaller space where many people stood during masses. Flex-Ability Concepts’ Flex-C Arch and Flex-C Trac were used to create some of the curves throughout the church.

University Of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute

In 2013, Bascom Palmer purchased a 1.5-acre site on a busy corner in the heart of upscale Naples, Florida to construct the 20,000 sq. ft. University of Miami (UM) Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. The $25 million LEED-certified project was completed in 2015, featuring architectural metal products from CENTRIA, and hosts state-of-the-art technology and double the number of ophthalmologists on staff.

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center

Harriet Tubman's life story was both amazing and inspirational. In creating a building dedicated to celebrating her role in the Underground Railroad, GWWO Architects of Baltimore looked for products that were symbolically relevant and visually memorable. To meet both objectives, the firm specified zinc from RHEINZINK America Inc.

Charles H. Sanford Fieldhouse

The Charles H. Sanford Fieldhouse at Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, is used by numerous school teams and the general public throughout the year. It has a steel framework overlayed with stone to blend in with other buildings on campus. It used to have a slate roof as well, but after years of problems it was recently replaced with a new standing seam system from Englert Inc.

Yankee Stadium Enhancements

As professional sports venues go, the original Yankee Stadium lasted longer than most. And while many were sad to see the venerable old ballpark close its doors at the end of the 2008 season, it would be hard to argue that the $2.3 billion replacement stadium was not a major upgrade. And thanks to off-season improvements before the start of the 2017 season—including the installation of several designer bifold doors from Schweiss Doors—the new Yankee Stadium is now better than ever!
