Rufe Building And Mercer Barn

Generosity begins at home and Drexel Metals’ generosity will help ensure future generations can experience historical Doylestown, Pa., and the Mercer Museum, located about an hour north of Philadelphia. Drexel Metals donated materials to re-roof two buildings, approximately 10,500 square feet of 0.032-inch aluminum, 16-inch DMC 150 SL snap lock standing seam roofing, installed by Economy Roofing of New Britain, Pa.

Alton Hall Elementary School

Providing a safe and healthy environment for students is clearly a high-ranking consideration in the construction of an elementary school. Architects for the Alton Hall Elementary School in Galloway, Ohio recognized the need for snow retention and specified the Sno Barricade® from Sno Gem® Inc. to be attached to the standing seam roof.

Mitchell Elementary

The renovation of Mitchell Elementary in Dallas resulted in 42 classrooms, a gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen and library. Metal roofing from MBCI is featured on the elementary school, which is a part of the Plano Independent School District and serves nearly 700 students.

Ninkasi Brewing Company

Ordell Construction, a general contractor and Varco Pruden Builder™, led the design and expansion of a six-year-old brew house in Oregon. Owned by Ninkasi Brewing Company, a microbrewery based in Eugene, the expanded facility was slated to triple the company's output capacity.

Sun Hydraulics Corporation

Sun Hydraulics Corp., a maker of hydraulic valves and one of Southwest Florida's largest manufacturers, expanded into a new $16 million, 75,510-square-foot building in Sarasota with the help of a metal building system from Star Building Systems. Sarasota's Halfacre Construction was recognized by Star for its work on the facility.

RLI Headquarters

The headquarters building of RLI, a publicly held specialty insurance company in Peoria, IL, had become dated and needed extensive interior and exterior repairs. Originally constructed in 1970, the 81,000 sq. ft. building‘s precast concrete facade had deteriorated significantly. To give the building a new look, RLI hired Dewberry Architects, Inc., Peoria. The firm considered many products to revitalize the building's exterior but ultimately chose zinc claddings from RHEINZINK America Inc. of Woburn, MA.

The Constellation

The architectural goal of The Constellation was to “lead the charge” of a rejuvenation at the very heart of Madison, WI, where an ultra-modern design and urban décor were achieved in part by insulated metal panels from Metl-Span®.

Great Lakes Research Center – Michigan Tech University

The four-story Michigan Tech Great Lakes Research Center provides 15,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art laboratory space and classrooms intended for biological, chemical, and physical research and education. The 50,000 sq. ft. facility also includes a high-tech data center, boat house, marina, and public spaces for visitors. Architectural metal products from CENTRIA are featured on the research center.

Brattonsville Brick House

The historic renovation of the Brattonsville Brick House is ongoing in York County, South Carolina. Work on the home, which is located in McConnells, began with the roof in December 2013. An exact match for the dwelling's original Thomas Jefferson Tinplate Roof could not be made, but an acceptable substitute was found through the specification of facsimile plates made of stainless steel from Contrarian Metal Resources.

J.D. & Mary West Science Laboratory

Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma built a new science lab, the J.D. & Mary West Science Laboratory, featuring interesting design elements created with the help of curved framing products from Flex-Ability Concepts. The new science lab is 25,891 square feet and contains five biology labs, three chemistry labs, two research labs, office spaces, and a greenhouse.

Clark Knapp Honda

The new Clark Knapp Honda auto dealership in Pharr, Texas celebrated its grand opening June 18, 2014 in a facility that incorporates the American Honda Motor Co.’s Generation 3 prototype dealership architectural design, including an expansive two-story showroom. Aluminum composite material from 3A Composites USA was among the products used in the construction of the new dealership.

Coxe Cage

The venerable Coxe Cage field house at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. remains an integral part of the school’s track and field history thanks to the building’s new metal roof supplied by Petersen Aluminum. Although the old cinder track and dirt floor were replaced with modern surfaces in 1982, the roof and its large, single-glazed skylight – both of which had deteriorated badly and needed replacing – had remained largely untouched for 80 years, until late 2013.

Franklin Shell Building

Runnebohm Construction, an American Buildings Company Authorized Builder, in partnership with the Franklin Redevelopment Commission and the Johnson County Development Corporation, completed construction of the Franklin Shell Building in Franklin, Indiana. The building is 51,350 sq. ft. with the ability to expand to 130,000 sq. ft.

Great American Pavilion

Pascal Steel Corporation, an authorized Nucor Building Systems builder, has constructed the new Great American Pavilion at California’s Great America Amusement Park in Santa Clara, California. The facility is home to the Red Zone Rally pregame events for San Francisco 49ers home games and other Levi’s® Stadium events as well as corporate events, community gatherings, product launches, holiday parties and much more.

Denton County Transit Authority

When the Denton County Transit Authority (DCTA) in Denton, Texas was in need of a new facility to support the rapid growth of buses, environmental consideration was crucial to continue their efforts to save fuel and eliminate carbon dioxide emissions. To help achieve sustainability and durability, DCTA used insulated metal wall panels and single skin metal roof and soffit panels manufactured by MBCI.

Farm Banquet Center

The Farm Banquet Center in Selma, NC is an eye-catching banquet hall and amphitheater made up of five building systems that total just over 14,000 sq. ft. Metal building framing and related products from Star Building Systems were used in the facility’s construction.

Colorado State Bank & Trust

For more than 40 years, the Colorado State Bank & Trust building has stood sentry at 1600 Broadway, ushering financiers, artists, retailers and tourists alike into Denver’s thriving Central Business District. However, its brown, rocky façade has cut a less-than-impressive profile in recent times. Helping return the building to its former glory, the architectural team of Gensler – Denver turned to Reynobond® Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) from Alcoa Architectural Products.

Harper Fiat

The new Harper Fiat dealership in Knoxville, Tennessee boasts a grand showroom with parts and service departments. Interstate Steel Corp. of Knoxville, Tennessee worked with Vulcraft Verco Group, a supplier of steel joists, steel joist girders and steel decking, to complete the 11,500 sq. ft. facility.

WMS Boathouse

Shortly after taking office, Chicago’s mayor Rahm Emanuel identified the Chicago River as “the city’s next recreational frontier.“ He announced plans to build four boathouses as “anchors to the river’s future development.“ The recently completed WMS Boathouse at Clark Park on the northwest side of the city is the second of the new boathouses to open and establishes an iconic presence on the river. Vertically oriented Flat Lock panels from RHEINZINK America Inc. cover significant portions of the building's main façade.

Derwood Bible Church

Derwood Bible Church, in Derwood, Maryland, provides a new and improved worship location and achieved the silver level of LEED® accreditation for its green building practices. In addition to a worship space, the 18,000-square-foot building, built by Gardiner & Gardiner Contracting LLC, an American Buildings Company (ABC) Authorized Builder, includes a nursery/toddler area, rehearsal room and conference rooms.
