RIP-IT

Allied Steel Buildings was selected by Chronus Construction to provide a metal warehouse and showroom in Orlando, Florida for RIP-IT, a supplier sporting goods. Allied was selected by Chronus Construction to provide a 120’ x 160’ x 42’ metal warehouse and showroom for the growing company.

Newmarket Operations Centre

Municipal maintenance buildings are typically designed with one thing in mind—function. And while it’s true the newly completed Ontario Operations Centre in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada, is a functional success, the building’s unique requirements dictated it be more than just a workshop or storage building. It needed to look good too. And by incorporating bifold liftstrap doors from Fairfax, MN-based Schweiss Doors, it does.

WinCo Foods Cold Storage Distribution Center

The construction of a new 862,000 sq. ft. cold-storage warehouse and distribution center in Phoenix gives WinCo Foods a more economically favorable way to serve its customers in Arizona, southern California and southern Nevada. That it is the largest food distribution center in the state is something for the Boise, ID-based grocery chain to be proud of. But it is also a feather in the cap of Kingspan Insulated Panels, maker of the more than 500,000 sq. ft. of insulated metal panels used for the mammoth building’s construction.

Great Falls Elementary School

Great Falls Elementary School is among a select number of schools in Maine to be heated and cooled exclusively with a geothermal system. That says something not only about the school’s design, but also about those making project decisions. That those same people saw fit to top the energy-efficient school with standing seam roofing from Englert Inc. is equally impressive. It is a testament not only to the reputation of metal roofing in general, but also for the products of Perth Amboy, NJ-based Englert in particular.

Edmonton International Airport Combined Office Tower

The new 107,000 sq. ft. Combined Office Tower (COT) at Edmonton International Airport adds dramatic impact to the Edmonton arrival and departure experience. Used to create the building’s undulating ribbon-like exterior wrap were Interlocking Flat Lock Shingles from RHEINZINK. The titanium zinc cladding is available in the United States from RHEINZINK America Inc.

Gymnastics Training Center

A new project from Varco Pruden Builder™ Ascent Construction Inc. is the Gymnastics Training Center facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. Designed by HKG Architecture of Salt Lake City, the 25,505-square-foot building provides dance and gymnastics training spaces and serves as a venue for competitions. The steel building structure features high vertical structural clearance, an open second-level mezzanine, a large viewing/seating area, recessed concrete pits and runways for trampolines and other uses.

South African Embassy

Among the more than 175 diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C., few stand out more than the South African Embassy on Massachusetts Avenue’s Embassy Row. Marked by its iconic Nelson Mandela statue, the embassy’s twin Dutch Colonial buildings are now joined in the middle by a new glass atrium shaded with a striking Cambridge Architectural wire mesh façade.

Beneath the eye-catching exterior of the Boeing New Everett Delivery Center is more than 71,000 sq. ft. of CENTRIA’s MetalWrap™ Series insulated composite backup panels. MetalWrap Series improved the project’s thermal value and provided a second line of defense against the harsh weather conditions of America’s Northwest for the 180,000 sq. ft. Everett, Washington facility.

Florida Horse Park Riding Arena

With the moniker “Horse Capital of the World” it’s no wonder that Ocala, Florida is continuously on the forefront of the equine industry. In the fall of 2014 the Florida Horse Park, located at 11008 S. Hwy 475 in Ocala, opened what is purported to be the largest public equestrian arena in the Southeastern United States. The 212’ x 396’ x 20’ arena was constructed using a metal building system engineered and fabricated by Allied Steel Buildings of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Building Concepts of America, an American Buildings Company (ABC) Authorized Builder, developed a new, 13,674-square-foot gymnasium for Newark Charter School in Newark, Delaware. The gymnasium includes a basketball court and locker rooms.

If anyone has been presented with the opportunity to learn about the benefits of metal roofing, it’s Claire Kilcoyne. Kilcoyne is the Vice President of Trade Shows at METALCON and is getting everything ready for her 25th annual show in Tampa, Fla. When she noticed her home in Westborough, MA was in need of a new roof, she mentioned it in a newsletter to metal roofing manufacturers and suppliers who exhibit at her show. Answering the call was Brian Partyka, Executive Vice President of Business Development at Drexel Metals.

The campus consists of three “academic sheds” and a central plant. The project team’s goal was to create highly sustainable structures that complement their surrounding landscape.

Prairie Meadows Racetrack And Casino

Creating a positive experience for customers is any business owner’s goal. Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Altoona, Iowa opened in 1995 to large crowds and excited gamblers. But with dwindling customers and revenue, the gaming commission approved a multi-phased renovation in an effort to enhance the gaming experience and attract business. Dri-Design contributed to the new contemporary look and architectural finishes of the casino with the interior installation of Shadow Series Panels.

The 16th building in the award-winning Hall Office Park in Frisco, TX has opened to great acclaim. Identified as 3001 Dallas Parkway, the 8-story, 200,000 sq. ft. Class AA office building enjoys a prominent location in the sprawling 162-acre office park developed by Hall Financial Group. Among the materials utilized for its construction were RHEINZINK titanium zinc cladding panels. RHEINZINK is a product of RHEINZINK America Inc., Woburn, MA.

In this case, a better building emerged from the skeleton of an old one, proving that salvage can sometimes trump starting from scratch.

Chappellet Winery Barrel Chai

Looks were important, but performance was paramount.
