Kennedy Space Center Orbiter Building

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is the new $100 million home of the priceless, historic Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit which tells the story of NASA’s 30-year space shuttle program. The Atlantis exhibit is the marquee element of the Visitor Complex’s 10-year master construction plan. Architectural metal products from CENTRIA played a key role in the design of the Titusville, FL complex.

Howard Tiger Recreational Center Airnasium

In January 2013, the Seminole Tribe of Florida and Stiles Construction announced a joint venture partnership to create Seminole/Stiles, LLC. Among the projects completed by the company so far is the Howard Tiger Recreational Center in Hollywood, FL. One of its features is a airnasium, created utilizing a metal building framing system from Allied Steel Buildings of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Rockland County, NY Sheriff's Department Headquarters

When the aging metal roof on the Rockland County, NY Sheriff's Department headquarters reached the end of its service life, county facilities management decided on a solution growing in popularity. Rather than tearing off the old roof and then installing a new one, they decided to leave the old roof alone and install a new metal roof right over the top. The system they chose was from Englert Inc., Perth Amboy, NJ.

Gulf County Florida Residence

A very private beachfront residence in Gulf County, Florida, used approximately 5,200 sq. ft. of .040” aluminum Snap-Clad panels in silver color in both tapered and straight applications. Petersen Aluminum was chosen as metal roof supplier for its ability to make the tapered panels in the desired single 19-foot lengths and then the balance of the straight panels.

Douglas County Community And Senior Center

In Nevada's Douglas County, 30% of the 46,000 residents are senior citizens; thus the need for a senior community center had been vocalized for decades. The Douglas County Community and Senior Center was built, with the help of metal panels from MBCI, to become the focal point of the community as a whole - for all ages.

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center

Established as a tent hospital in 1867, the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne, WY has come a long, long way. The hospital's latest growth spurt included many improvements to the existing facilities, as well as the construction of a free-standing cancer center and a bridge connecting it to the hospital. One of the products used to tie all elements of the project together was the Omega-Lite® aluminum composite wall panel system from Laminators Inc. of Hafield, PA.

Boeddeker Park Clubhouse

San Francisco’s Tenderloin area is one of the city’s most densely populated neighborhoods. And while most of its residents live below the poverty line without access to backyards or green space, they do have a Boeddeker Park, a recently redeveloped public space whose features include a clubhouse clad with zinc tiles and roofing from MetalTech-USA of Peachtree City, GA. The material they were fabricated from was from RHEINZINK America Inc., Woburn, MA.

Playland Ice Casino

Superstorm Sandy barreled up the East Coast in 2012, causing record amounts of damage and destruction while becoming the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. Its powerful winds and torrential rains damaged countless businesses and homes along the Eastern U.S., including Playland Amusement Park and its iconic Ice Casino. Metal roofing from The Garland Co. Inc. played a key role in the restoration of the historic Rye, New York facility.

It is not easy to find affordable apartment rentals in Chicago. The pace of new multi-family housing construction hasn’t been fast enough to meet the demand. Sometimes though, these new buildings turn out to be worth the wait. That's certainly true in the case of 1611 West Division, an 11-story apartment building clad predominantly with BENCHMARK by Kingspan Designwall™ 1000 architectural metal panels.

Select Inn - Murfreesboro

Integrated Roof Solutions Inc. completed a retrofit re-roofing project for the Select Inn hotel located in Murfreesboro, TN. The hotel’s existing exposed fastened R-Panel roof was in need of replacement after servicing the building for over 30 years. In lieu of removing the metal panels and exposing the building interior to the elements, a retrofit sub-framing system manufactured by Roof Hugger Inc. was used.

Cedar Rapids Public Library

In Iowa, the new Cedar Rapids Public Library is a vibrant, multipurpose destination with spaces for the community to mix and collaborate. Commissioned to replace the previous library lost in flooding that devastated the city in 2008, the unique architecture makes a statement that heightens the building’s presence while being easily identifiable as a library. Helping to distingush the building is Reynobond ACM cladding from Arconic Architectural Products.

Fayetteville Montessori Elementary School

“Freedom within limits” is one of the characteristics of a Montessori education, and the design of Fayetteville Montessori Elementary School in northwest Arkansas is a perfect example. Situated near a creek, the triangular structure cuts a modern and exciting figure that few would guess is the result of extreme constraints. Noteworthy about the project from a metal construction standpoint is the use of corrugated metal panels in its design. They feature a Fluropon paint finish from Valspar.

Hmong College Prep Academy

Hmong College Prep Academy’s (HCPA) mission is to provide the best integrated, most challenging, and well-rounded educational experience to students in grades K-12. Located in St. Paul, Minnesota, HCPA is a charter school that retrofitted a former health club into an educational facility. Metal products from CENTRIA played a key role in the exterior design of the 78,300 sq. ft. academy.

Georgia Southern University Biological Sciences Building

Informally dubbed “The Building in the Trees,” the new Biological Sciences Building at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga., is located on a major campus pedestrian way that brings students through a wooded area to reach the 158,000 sq. ft. structure. The LEED Gold building, featuring metal products from Petersen Aluminum, is the first in a new precinct of the campus largely devoted to the study of coastal plains biology and ecology.

Stack House Apartments

There are a variety of considerations for specifying architectural building products on any project, everything from aesthetics and structural integrity to cost and environmental friendliness. For the construction of the Stack House Apartments in Seattle, metal composite material (MCM) from Citadel Architectural Products Inc. helped meet these goals and was able to play a role in the project receiving LEED Platinum certification.

Chart Industries Building 22

Successful firms tend to have high expectations when it comes to the companies they do business with. When the decision was made to expand its tank fabrication operations in New Prague, MN, Chart Industries involved a pair of Minnesota firms who are demonstrated leaders within their respective fields: Greystone Construction Company of Shakopee, and Schweiss Doors Inc. of Fairfax.

Residence Inn Marriott - Portland

AEP Span’s Prestige Series® architectural metal panel is featured on the Residence Inn Marriott project, the first hotel in Portland’s famous Pearl District. Located in a revitalized area of the inner city that has earned a worldwide reputation for urban renaissance, the 223-room hotel is LEED Silver Certified. The metal panels not only contributed to the recycled content points, but from a design standpoint offering a broad color choice was essential.

Tuttle Avenue School

While construction setbacks delayed the opening of the Tuttle Avenue School in Eastport, NY, the wait was well worth it for 450 students, many of whom had been attending classes in portable buildings behind another nearby school. The $28 million, 60,000 sq. ft. facility has achieved LEED gold certification, thanks in part to the incorporation of an Englert Series 2500 metal roof in its design.

Pterodactyl

Designed by Eric Owen Moss Architects, the 16,663 sq. ft. Pterodactyl office building in Culver City, CA is as unique as they come. Perched atop a four-story parking garage, the project 17 years in the making is comprised of a series of zinc-skinned boxes arrayed in a seemingly random pattern. The cladding material for the boxes—nine in all—was RHEINZINK titanium zinc by RHEINZINK America Inc.
