Closson's Design Center

Closson’s has been the preeminent resource in Cincinnati for fine art, furniture and interior design accessories and services since 1866. Playing a role in a new wing of the design center in Oakley, OH, near Cincinnati—offering an upscale touch while manipulating light—was a metal fabric system from Cambridge Architectural.

Cloudkisser Hangar

The Citation jet, named Cloudkisser II, is as clean and slick as the new 100-foot by 100-foot hangar where it resides at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport in Janesville, Wis. Among the hangar's many impressive features is its 80' x 22' liftstrap/autolatch bifold door from Schweiss Doors. The door is rated for 115 mph.

Clover Aquatics Center

A majestic wave tops the new Clover School District YMCA natatorium in Clover, SC. A standing seam metal roof from McElroy Metal was used to create it, delivering an aesthetic the architect demanded and the community had hoped for.

Cloverdale749

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation provided its T2630 perforated and solid metal wall panels for Cloverdale749, a 10,500-square-foot residential structure located in Los Angeles, CA. The modern six-unit building is located just around the block from the historic Miracle Mile hub, near the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the A+D Architecture and Design Museum.

Cobalt Stables

A new four-building project, utilizing metal systems from Star Building Systems, consists of one large clear span metal building with three smaller buildings which form the shape of a cross. Owned by Morgan Horse LLC, the Cobalt Stables buildings in Kansas City, KS, feature metal components, composite roofing and wood in a functional and seamlessly integrated living space for humans and horses.

Cobia Bay Retail Center

Pre-engineered metal building systems from Butler Manufacturing, featuring KoreTeck™ panelized wall systems, were utilized by Alan Anderson Architect, AIA, of Sarasota, FL, for the pair of buildings that make up the newly completed Cobia Bay Retail Center in Sarasota. The project’s general contractor was Formella Construction LLC, a Sarasota-based authorized Butler builder. The Cobia Bay development was completed in February 2009 and consists of two buildings. The larger is 28,314 sq. ft. while the smaller is approximately 4,000 sq. ft.

Colorado Mesa University Skybridge

It may not rival the buildings it connects to in terms of size, scope or impact on campus life, but the skybridge that connects Colorado Mesa University's Maverick Center to the recently completed Foster Field House is an appreciated finishing touch for students, coaches and faculty who use those facilities. The exterior of the elevated pedestrian walkway is attractive too, wrapped in sleek-looking Omega-Lite® ACM panels from Laminators Incorporated.

Colorado Mountain Home

The exterior of a beautiful mountain home near Grand Junction, CO features a striking combination of natural materials including actual 14” diameter logs and RHEINZINK roof panels. The 3,400 sq. ft. residence doubles as a fishing lodge for the owners and features life-like images of a rainbow trout and cutthroat trout pounded from RHEINZINK and mounted on the exterior.

Colorado River Indian Tribes’ Fire Safety Substation

The Reservation of the Colorado River Indian Tribes' fire safety substation is a multifunctional facility that includes a fire station, administration space, community meeting rooms, crew quarters, an emergency operation center, triage and stabilization clinic and six apparatus bays. It features custom-engineered metal framing from Star Building Systems, combined with conventional framing.

Colorado State Bank & Trust

For more than 40 years, the Colorado State Bank & Trust building has stood sentry at 1600 Broadway, ushering financiers, artists, retailers and tourists alike into Denver’s thriving Central Business District. However, its brown, rocky façade has cut a less-than-impressive profile in recent times. Helping return the building to its former glory, the architectural team of Gensler – Denver turned to Reynobond® Aluminum Composite Material (ACM) from Alcoa Architectural Products.

Colorado State University Indoor Practice Facility

The new Colorado State University Indoor Practice Facility in Fort Collins, CO, sports 39,000 sq. ft. of Metl-Span CF-42 Light Mesa insulated wall panels. The 2” panels were finished in Herring Bone on the exterior and Igloo White on the interior. The 72,000 sq. ft., $13 million facility provides practice areas for football, basketball and volleyball. It is 65 feet at its tallest point and contains a 70-yard synthetic turf football field with adjacent track.

Columbia Sportswear Outlets

Aluminum composite materials are considered first and foremost as an exterior building product, but they've been shown to work just as well in interior applications. Laminators Inc. of Hatfield, PA offers proof in a pair of recently completed outlet mall storefronts for Columbia Sportswear, one in Las Vegas, NV and the other in Milpitas, CA.

Columbia St. Mary's Hospital

Since being introduced more than a decade ago, Dri-Design dry-joint rainscreen metal wall panels have gained the attention of architects nationwide. Even heavyweight firms such as Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum (HOK), St. Louis have noticed the system’s combination of benefits–looks, performance and an “affordable” price. HOK specified 136,000 sq. ft. of Dri-Design panels for the exterior of the new Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Columbus Ice Rink

Through form and materials, the new Columbus Ice Rink melds the contemporary with the traditional. The dominant products showcased on the exterior are brick, aluminum composite material (ACM) and glass. The ACM was ALPOLIC from Mitsubishi Plastics Composites America Inc. of Chesapeake, VA.

Columbus Middle School

Students do not typically look forward to returning to school after Christmas break, but 6th-8th graders in Columbus, Mississippi, were anxious to hit the books in early 2011; they were excited to move into their newly-constructed, state-of-the-art school. Perhaps what they weren't expecting, however, was the level of technology and the fun, casual atmosphere they would find when they stepped into the 150,515 -square foot facility that involved custom-designed metal construction from a hometown company, Ceco Building Systems.

Columbus State University Student Recreation Center

Though paid for through private funding and student fees, there was no need to skimp on quality as far as the construction of the new Columbus State University Student Recreation Center was concerned. School officials raised $26 million for the project, guaranteeing the 106,000 sq. ft. facility had all the features students wanted and a look befitting its campus location. In addition to limestone accent walls, the exterior of the recreation center features ALPOLIC aluminum composite metal wall panels fabricated by Altech Panels Systems.

Comcast Center

Woven metal mesh from Cambridge Architectural dresses the lobby and adjacent interior public spaces in Philadelphia's impressive new Comcast Center. The 975-foot tall, glass-encased high-rise – the city’s tallest building – is also the nation’s tallest green office building. Designed to achieve LEED certification from the USGBC, architects and engineers sought out sustainable building elements for every square foot of the structure. To that end, the mesh was a perfect fit and an ideal complement to the lobby's centerpiece, a 2,100 sq. ft. high definition video wall dubbed "The Comcast Experience".

Comix

A LandscapeInteriors™ metal fabric application from Cambridge Architectural adds a high-end aesthetic to the interior of Comix, a newly-designed comedy club in New York City’s fashionable Meatpacking District. StudioRED specified metal fabric in Cambridge’s modified Shade pattern for the LandscapeInteriors system. The mesh features flexible, open weaves that resemble chain mail and can be installed as window treatments, virtual space dividers or as dynamic design elements with track hardware. A combined 194 sq. ft. of woven metal mesh was used for this project.

Commercial Project – Millville, NJ

Archetto Construction, Inc. of Vineland, New Jersey completed a commercial reroof project in nearby Millville in March 2011 by installing 40,500 sq. ft. of new 24-gauge Star Building Systems standing seam roofing over the existing roof, supported by standard Roof Hugger Model “C” factory-notched sub-purlins.

Commodore John Barry Elementary School

The Commodore John Barry Elementary School in West Philadelphia provides a vibrant learning environment for students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. This new four-story school - situated on the site of the original school in a dense urban residential neighborhood - illustrates the successful combination of employing sustainable building practices and community involvement throughout the design process. Playing a key role in the design were Formawall® Dimension Series® panels from CENTRIA.
