International Magnet School For Global Citizenship

The new International Magnet School for Global Citizenship – featuring metal roofing from Petersen Aluminum - has opened in South Windsor, Conn. As part of the Capitol Region Education Council, the school will foster the education and development of 530 students from pre-K through fifth grade. CREC is a non-profit, regional educational organization serving 35 public school districts in the greater Hartford, Conn., area.

International Quilt Study Center And Museum

Visitors to the International Quilt Study Center and Museum in Lincoln, NE will immediately notice a different kind of fabric – architectural mesh – draping the expansive windows of the venue and dividing the space within. Cambridge Architectural’s Solucent™ metal mesh interior application is suspended in tension parallel to the museum’s windows inside the building. The mesh shades the sun and eases the light gradually as patrons walk through, while Cambridge’s LandscapeInteriors™ system fashionably divides the interior space. Each Cambridge system employs lustrous woven metal fabric – complementing the building’s theme perfectly.

Interstate Battery Retail Center - Waco, TX

No one would be surprised to learn that the new Interstate Batteries store in Waco, TX was designed and built using a metal building system. The dark green metal roof, the tan-colored R-panels and even the building’s overall appearance are pretty good clues. What might raise a few eyebrows, however, is that the stone base and stucco-like walls wrapping the front of the building were also off-the-shelf products offered by the project’s metal building manufacturer, Rigid Global Buildings of Houston.

Intrinsic School

On Chicago’s Northwest Side, Intrinsic Schools’ new 58,000-square-foot Belmont Campus transforms a former lumberyard into a contemporary educational facility. The public charter school building showcases a distinctive, patterned facade with multiple components finished in Valspar’s Fluropon® 70 percent polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin-based exterior coatings. Among them were insulated metal panel systems from Kingpan Insulated Panels.

INVISTA Centre

Four ice rinks are key components of the 179,550 square foot INVISTA Centre in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. The facility features a variety of metal construction products from American Buildings Company, based in Eufaula, Alabama. This project used tapered column, rigid frame metal building framing by American Buildings, along with the company’s Standing Seam 360 roofing system and Architectural III wall panels.

Iowa City Fire Station #4

After literally two decades in the planning, the new Iowa City Fire Station #4 is complete and providing improved service to the northeast section of Iowa City, Iowa. Located on a high-visibility site, the LEED Gold facility - featuring roof, wall and soffit panels from Petersen Aluminum - establishes a prominent visual presence for the fire department in the center of the service area.

Iowa Culinary Institute

Creating unforgettable culinary experiences is what the Iowa Culinary Institute at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny does well. Students and staff at the institute now do this in an expanded space with an unforgettable façade created by Dri-Design Shadow Series Wall Panels and Aluvium finish wall panels.

A Fabricoil™ architectural coiled wire fabric system again “got the part” when iPic Entertainment incorporated it into a luxury cinema location that opened in late 2014 on Wilshire Boulevard in the Westwood section of Los Angeles.

An unorthodox curvature of architectural mesh–supplied by Cambridge Architectural of Cambridge, MD–gives the new Iron Horse Trail Pedestrian Bridge in Contra Costa County, CA an unconventional design while providing safety for people on the bridge and those in cars passing underneath.

Ironclad

The new Ironclad mixed-use development in Minneapolis stands out in the historic Mill District’s cityscape with a unique metal-clad angular design that is equal parts historic inspiration and contemporary urban chic. Aluminum composite material cladding was supplied by 3A Composites USA.

Ironstone Bank

Ironstone Bank’s Memorial Drive office in Oklahoma City, OK, reflects the institution’s desire to have its quality of customer service be represented by the quality of its facilities. Ironstone, a subsidiary of First Citizens BancShares Inc., has 58 offices in 12 states and the bank regards its buildings as physical symbols of the company’s stability and strength. Flex-Ability Concept’s Flex-C Trac® and Flex-C Arch products helped frame the impressive bank lobby rotunda and provide a signature look for the facility.

Ironworks

One of the vestiges of Beloit, Wisconsin's industrial roots is the Beloit Corporation steel-making plant. Ultimately closing in 1999, the old industrial complex stands not as a symbol of Beloit's decline, but rather its resilience. Renamed Ironworks, the property is now a vibrant, multi-tenant commercial campus. Where new walls have gone up and interior spaces transformed, Cor-Ten steel panels from McElroy Metal have become a familiar sight.

Irwin Seating Company

The Irwin Seating Company is an audience-seating manufacturer located just east of Lake Michigan. Irwin’s seats grace theaters and stadiums all around the world from Carnegie Hall in New York City to Dewan Filharmonik in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The fourth-generation family company planned to expand one of its top-selling product lines, which also required a facility increase - calling for architectural metal products from CENTRIA.

Islais Creek Motor Coach Maintenance & Operations Facility

The Islais Creek Motor Coach Maintenance & Operations Facility truly redefined the meaning of a long-term project. The design of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s new facilities was initiated in 1990. Phase I of the project was completed in 2013. Phase II, which features metal roof and wall panels from IMETCO, was completed in 2018.

Issaquah Middle School

PPG and AEP Span have partnered to protect and enhance Issaquah Middle School in Issaquah, Washington, with metal wall panels using Duranar® GR (graffiti-resistant) clear coating. It is the first school in the country to use the new coating, which features a proprietary formulation that PPG developed to combat a problem that costs U.S. building owners an estimated $25 billion per year.

IUPUI Innovation Hall

All discussions during the design phase of Innovation Hall at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis focused on constructing a facility that would host the most modern technological class offerings. Fittingly, a significant portion of the building’s façade consists of larson® aluminum composite material (ACM) from Alucoil.

Ivy Street Center

Ivy Street Center is the first new academic building on the Marist School campus in Brookhaven, Ga., in more than 20 years, and is the signature project in Phase 1 of the Campus Master Plan. The new facility, designed with an emphasis on sustainability, features roofing and wall panels from Petersen.

Ivy Tech Community College Reroof

In 2015, the Kokomo campus of Indiana’s community college system, Ivy Tech Community College, was faced with needed repair of aging metal roofs on buildings constructed in the late 1970s and 1980s. Three Kokomo campus roofs that covered 83,042 square feet were reroofed using structural factory-notched sub-purlins from Roof Hugger of Lutz, FL.

J Hotel

J.A. Riggs Caterpillar

Metal building systems from Varco Pruden Buildings, a division of BlueScope Buildings North America, Inc., were used to create the J.A. Riggs Caterpillar service center facility in Little Rock, Arkansas. Varco Pruden Buildings’ Continuous Beam framing was utilized on this project that was completed in March 2009. Building sizes were 52,622 sq. ft. and 30,163 sq. ft.
