LATTC Learning Center

The Learning Resource Center at the Los Angeles Trade Technical College recently underwent a complete transformation. Mariposa Hall's renovation and expansion improved functionality and efficiency and gave the building a look befitting its role as campus centerpiece. The new appearance was created with the help of a titanium zinc cladding system fabricated by PeachTree City, GA-based MetalTech USA. The zinc it used was prePatina Blue Gray RHEINZINK, a product of RHEINZINK America, Woburn, MA.

Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Interpretive Center

The Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve Interpretive Center is the first platinum-level LEED certified building to be constructed in the National Park System. Located in Grand Teton National Park, the 7,500 sq. ft. facility is the focal point of the 1,106-acre preserve donated to the Park Service by the Rockefeller family. One of the materials used extensively in the construction of the new building was RHEINZINK® zinc, manufactured by RHEINZINK America Inc.

Lauridsen Amphitheater

The new Lauridsen Amphitheater constructed at Water Works Park in Des Moines, Iowa, stretches toward the sky just like the surrounding oak trees twist and stretch toward leafy canopies in this riverside woodland. The amphitheater’s canopy is clad with aluminum composite material by 3A Composites USA.

Lawrence Township Fire Department

Fire stations attract attention. Who doesn’t want to catch a glimpse of a shiny fire truck? In the case of the Lawrence Township fire station in Lawrence, Indiana, it was the damaged roof that was drawing attention, not the shiny fire trucks. When considering replacement materials, the firemen wanted a cost-effective durable product requiring little to no maintenance with a long life cycle. Familiar with DECRA Roofing Systems, one of the firemen brought in a sample of DECRA Shingle - a stone coated steel product - that was selected for the reroof project.

LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal Expansion

The $1.9-billion New Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) was dedicated in September 2013. The 1.3-million square-foot terminal addition features a dynamic design by Denver-headquartered Fentress Architects. The project utilized aluminum composite material from 3A Composites USA.

Le Peterson Condominiums

Located in one of Montreal's most vibrant and sought-after neighborhoods, the new Le Peterson condominiums offer a unique architectural design. The 35-story building is more notable for its signature glass balconies but insulated metal wall panels from Metl-Span were nonetheless integral to its overall construction success.

Learjet Flight Test Building 18

Conco Construction, an American Buildings Company (ABC) Authorized Builder, developed the new Learjet Flight Test Building 18 structure in Wichita, Kansas. The new metal building provides two, 204-foot clear span hangar doors that were necessary for the aircraft to enter and exit the facility.

Lebanon Municipal Service Facility

The Lebanon Municipal Service Facility in Lebanon, OH consists of three custom-engineered metal buildings by Star Building Systems that total 33,000 sq. ft. The project was started in August 2014 and completed in April 2015.

Legacy ER

The uniqueness of a free-standing emergency room is rivaled only by the uniqueness of the design concept of the new Legacy ER in Allen, TX. Described by some as a “metal origami," the facility functions both as a state-licensed emergency facility as well as an urgent care clinic. The emergency room–open 24 hours a day, seven days a week–features on its exterior an architectural robe of zinc panels from RHEINZINK America Inc., Woburn, MA.

Leinenweber Farm Shop Building

Just as farm operations have become more sophisticated through the years, so too have the shop buildings that keep expensive machinery and equipment in tip-top condition. A prime example can be found in rural St. James, Minnesota where the new shop of LeRoy and Dave Leinenweber is a model of efficiency, both operationally and in terms of energy consumption. The metal-skinned shop is large—80’ wide x 120’ long x 38’ at the peak—and features hydraulic doors from Schweiss Doors of Fairfax, MN.

Lemieux Hangar

Curtis Lemieux is a successful business owner and an accomplished pilot. He flies for both business and pleasure, keeping his plane in his newly renovated mancave/hangar at the Prince Albert Airport in Saskatchewan. The hangar has many bells and whistles including a pair of hydraulic hangar doors from Schweiss Doors.

Lenhart Residence

Most metal roofing installers have a project or two that stand out enough to use as models to sell more metal. Aaron Lenhart of Designer Roofing in Prosper, Texas, reroofed his home with a McElroy Metal standing seam roofing system and it has become a showcase for his roofing company.

Leo Van De Yacht Well Drilling

Green Bay general contractor Best Built, Inc., an authorized Ceco Building Systems Builder, was recognized with a “2008 Projects of Distinction Silver, Metal Building, Up to $1 million Category” award by the Wisconsin Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. Best Built received its award for its work on a new facility for Leo Van De Yacht Well Drilling. The new building is a Ceco Building Systems custom-designed steel frame with exterior CMU and exterior metal wall panels and consists of 14,575 square feet of office, pump shop, wash bay, maintenance area and storage.

Les Schwab Tire Centers Headquarters

Les Schwab Tire Centers, known throughout the Northwest for the popular, homespun marketing tactics of its founder, Les Schwab, has moved its corporate headquarters from the original cinderblock building in Prineville, Oregon to a sparkling new structure in Bend. Utilized for the design of the new building was nearly 30,000 sq. ft. of Citadel Envelope 2000® Rain Screen (RS) metal composite material panels in three colors: Gun Metal, Terra Cotta and Champagne Metallic.

Levy Riding Arena

With wood framing deemed impractical due to prohibitive spanning requirements, the metal building approach came to the fore as being the best solution for a 12,800 sq. ft. indoor horse riding arena in Carp, Ontario, Canada. Baird Construction Management Ltd. of Carp, an Authorized Robertson Builder, designed and built the structure using products and systems by Robertson Building Systems. Construction began on the building in June 2006 and was completed two months later.

Lewiston Community Health Center

By specifying a variety of exposed fastener profiles from McElroy Metal on the Lewiston (Pa.) Community Health Center medical office building project, the design team was able to achieve the desired aesthetic and still construct a facility for the non-profit real estate development company with durability and budget constraints in mind.

Lexington Athletic Complex

At first glance, one might not see anything unusual about the red barn that has appeared on the landscape in Blaine, Minn. But take a closer look and you’ll see that the attractive structure is actually the cornerstone building of the new Lexington Athletic Complex. Approximately 4,000 sq. ft. of PAC-CLAD Snap-Clad panels from Petersen made a significant contribution to accomplishing the facility's design objectives.

LFPL Northeast Regional Branch

Kentucky’s LEED Gold-certified, award-winning Louisville Free Public Library (LFPL) Northeast Regional Branch features naturally sustainable RHEINZINK-prePATINA® graphite-grey zinc exterior wall cladding. Designed by JRA Architects and MSR Design, the newly constructed, 40,000-square-foot facility serves 170,000 people in eastern Jefferson County as more than an information center.
