Longwater Place

Owners of multi-tenant properties can look to Longwater Place, Norwell, MA, and the application of the Shadow Series from Dri-Design for inspiration on how to designate specific rental spaces while inviting customers inside. The Dri-Design Wall Panel System created a lively and interactive exterior for the original building and an office addition.

Lot H Parking Garage

In ATAS International’s annual project of the year competition, the Lot H Parking Garage in Wilmington, DE took first place in the accents category for 2020. The architect for this project was Bernardon of Wilmington, DE, and the perforated metal panels were installed by A&H Metals, Inc. of Newark, DE.

Loughborough University Car Park

Façade specialists James & Taylor have won their own university challenge with a combination of silver and bronze Eyetech that adorns Loughborough University’s first multi-story car park in Leicestershire, UK. James & Taylor supplied 1,400 square meters of Eyetech expanded aluminum (aluminium) mesh, anodized in silver and bronze. The cutting-edge material, which envelopes the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, provides a futuristic, yet practical finish to the university’s £3.5m project.

Louisiana Garage

The Internet is an amazing marketing and informational tool. That's where Dr. Frank Bacque, a urologist in Lafayette, LA, went when he needed a different style door for his new garage. Knowing the roll-up doors he had on his other garages wouldn’t work because they would take up too much inside ceiling room for him to install an American-made “Backyard Buddy” car lift inside, he went browsing for alternatives and eventually found Schweiss Doors.

Louisiana National Guard Readiness Center

Before Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the Louisiana Army National Guard Readiness Center was based at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. In the aftermath of the storm the Guard sought higher ground. After choosing a new site, the Guard commissioned the Broadmoor Design Group of Metairie, LA, to design a new readiness center with the capacity to serve as the main Army National Guard aviation hub for operations in the southeast part of the state. In its design of the base's new main building the firm made extensive use of Reynobond Aluminum Composite material from Alcoa Architectural Products.

Louisiana Sports Hall Of Fame

Schweiss Doors may not be in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame but two of its hydraulic doors are on it. The utilization of the doors on such an acclaimed project speaks volumes for the reputation of the Fairfax, MN-based manufacturer and its ability to produce doors to match virtually any architectural design.

Lorin Industries Inc., a global industry leader in the innovation and production of coil anodized aluminum, supplied the anodized aluminum used in the exterior panels of the restored Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA.

Lowman Hall – South Carolina State University

An historic landmark, South Carolina State University’s Lowman Hall was reroofed in 2009 by Fort Roofing, Sumter, S.C. The architect for the project was Watson Tate Savory, Columbia, S.C., and the general contractor was Weber Construction Co., Orangeburg, S.C. The building was reroofed with 15,173 square feet of Techo Tile from ATAS International, Inc. The 0.032-inch aluminum tiles have a Redwood embossed finish.

Loyola Marymount University Life Sciences Building

As the first building designed under Loyola Marymount University ’s (LMU) Campus Master Plan, the Life Sciences Building sets the pace for modern, sustainable design at the university. Helping it succeed in that regard was perforated screen panels fabricated from RHEINZINK America Inc. zinc.

Loyola University Hospital

Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, IL, features four specialty units including Adult and Pediatric, Burn Intensive Care, Coronary Care, and Intensive Care services. The 176,000 sq. ft. hospital, which opened in Spring of 2008, is accented by .125” aluminum plate panels manufactured by Quality Metalcrafts, LLC. More than 3,500 square feet of the custom-fabricated panels were utilized on the project to complement the other exterior materials on the impressive facility.

LPM Apartments

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation provided more than 13,000 sq. ft. of its TDR-6 deep ribbed metal wall panels for a new apartment tower, known as LPM Apartments, in the Loring Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

LSU Student Union Theater Lobby

A custom stainless steel metal fabric ceiling system from Cambridge Architectural smartly drapes between lighting fixtures, creating a clean and modern overhead surface for the newly renovated Louisiana State University (LSU) Student Union Theater lobby in Baton Rouge, LA. Originally constructed in 1965, the LSU Student Union Theater is the largest theater venue on the school's campus.

Luis Munoz Marin International Airport

An ambitious plan by the Puerto Rico Ports Authority to upgrade the Luis Muñoz International Airport in Carolina, PR, included the design and construction of a new 285,000 sq. ft. terminal. Dubbed the HUBB, the soon-to-open building boasts a flying saucer-like design whose signature feature is its massive curved overhang. As challenging to build as it is impressive to look at, the canopy is wrapped with Reynobond® ACM (aluminum composite material), from Alcoa Architectural Products. Panels for it were fabricated predominantly by the Miller-Clapperton Partnership of Austell, GA.

Luling High School

The original roof on the Luling High School, part of the Luling Independent School District of Texas, was described as having been given short shrift during the building’s original construction in 1987. Things came to a head in 2008, during an especially heavy rainfall. For a solution, an R-Mer® Lite II insulated steel roofing system from The Garland Company, Inc. was chosen.

Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex

The turtle has long been used as a metaphor in Native American philosophy for the continual cycle of give and take that personifies the natural world. When the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina constructed the Lumbee Tribal Housing Complex in West Pembroke, they wanted a building that would evoke that symbolism. Metal roofing from The Garland Co., Inc. covers the facility.

Lumberton Municipal Utility District Operations Center

Since its creation in 1973, The Lumberton Municipal Utility District has consistently expanded its coverage area to provide water and waste-water services to more than 24,000 residents of the Lumberton, Texas area. With its administrative staff also increasing steadily over the past four decades, the Lumberton MUD opened a new Operations Center in 2014 – featuring metal products from CENTRIA.

Lutheran Social Services Center For Children & Youth

The Lutheran Social Services Center for Children & Youth residential facility located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, was designed to be long-lasting and economical while impacting the local community by assisting more children. The original facility was a 1960 building, and in order to increase their capacity, the center needed a flexible design that also made sure they were good stewards of donor funds. This was accomplished by using metal buildings, by Metallic Building Company, for four wings (15,000 square feet) of the 33,000 total square foot project.
