Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center

Metal roofing and siding from AEP Span of West Sacramento, CA, was among the key products utilized in the design of the newly completed Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center in Bellevue, WA. The center is comprised of a series of buildings built into the forest at the edge of Mercer Slough. It acts as both a gathering space for nature lovers and an environmental education center for people of all ages. The project's architect was Mark Johnson of Jones & Jones Architects.

Merck Serono Headquarters

Designed by Murphy Jahn Architects of the United States and completed in the fall of 2006, the new world headquarters of Merck Serono in Geneva, Switzerland is comprised of a sprawling six-story building nestled among and integrating a trio of smaller historically significant industrial structures. As a means of establishing a visual relationship between the 463,000 sq. ft. of new construction and the existing buildings—in a manner that complied with preservation orders protecting the latter—the architect topped both the new building and the renovated structures with 90,000 sq. ft. of Kalzip™ 65/500 standing seam aluminum roofing from Corus Building Systems.

Mercy Flights Hangar

S&B James Construction, an American Buildings Company (ABC) authorized Builder, reconstructed a new campus for Mercy Flights, Inc., a local non-profit organization. Located at the Rouge Valley International-Medford (Oregon) Airport, the new campus combines an ambulance dispatch and training building with an aircraft and ground ambulance maintenance shop and parking.

Mercy Health Center Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Mercy Health Center, Oklahoma City, OK, has renovated and expanded its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to incorporate the most current technology and care unit design. Design for the 21,000 sq. ft. renovation features prominent curves and complex radiuses in hallways, nurses’ stations and common areas. Products from Flex-Ability Concepts were used to create those curves and radiuses.

Mercy Health Muskegon Medical Center

CENTRIA®, manufacturer of metal wall and roof panels, supplied its Intercept modular metal wall panel system for the recently constructed Mercy Health Muskegon Medical Center in Muskegon, MI. A $271-million, 10-story health care facility, the new building effectively doubles the amount of floor space for medical staff to treat patients.

Merrill Hangar

Approaching Dick Merrill’s wood-frame barn for the first time, you’d not guess it to be a hangar for his 180 Cessna Spirit of Columbus airplane. Helping to disguise it is the bifold door installed in one end wall. Manufactured by Schweiss Doors, it blends in so well, you can hardly detect it.

Merrimack County Nursing Home

Products from MeTecno USA provide both structural and aesthetic benefits through their use in the $40 million makeover of the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen, NH. Three different products are featured on the 143-year-old facility. They were chosen because of initial cost, long-term maintenance costs and freedom of design expression. The project was completed in March 2008 with Warrenstreet Architects of Concord, NH, serving as the project's architect. The metal wall and roof panel systems were installed by AJ Desjardins Roofing Co. Inc.

Mesa Community College Student Services Center

Built into a 50-foot hillside, the new Mesa Community College Student Services Center in San Diego, California incorporates PPG coatings and glass to help seamlessly integrate both the local landscape and 16 different academic departments into its open, airy and energy-efficient 85,000-square-foot space. Duranar® fluoropolymer coatings and Solarban® solar control low-e glass manufactured by PPG are vital to the center’s performance, functionality and contemporary design.

Mesaba Airlines Hangar at Des Moines International Airport

A new facility at the Des Moines International Airport in Des Moines, Iowa, provides overnight service for routine maintenance, allowing planes to arrive in the evening and receive aircraft service overnight. The $11.8 million hangar was built by the City of Des Moines and is being leased to Mesaba Airlines, a Northwest Airlines subsidiary. It serves as a regional maintenance facility. Steel framing, along with metal wall and roof panels, from Ceco Building Systems played a key role in the facility's construction.

Mesquite Police Station Headquarters

To accommodate the need for current and future needs of its police department the City of Mesquite commissioned Brinkley Sargent Architects of Dallas, TX, to design a new, state-of-the-art facility. Completed in December 2008, the 90,000 sq. ft. headquarters has top-notch security features, an emergency operations center, property and evidence area, a high-tech briefing room, space for officers to work comfortably and room for the department to grow into. Featured on the exterior of the building is a product also known as state of the art: Reynobond® Aluminum Composite Material from Alcoa Architectural Products, Eastman, GA.

Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp. - Rogers, MN Plant Reroof

The 25-year-old trapezoidal standing seam roof on the Metal Sales Manufacturing plant in Rogers, Minn., sustained hail damage during the summer of 2020. Initially, the plan was to tear off the damaged metal roofing and replace it with a new metal roofing system. In an effort to avoid a stoppage in production, further discussion led Metal Sales to install Roof Hugger sub-purlins on the damaged roof and attach a new metal roofing system to those sub-purlins.

Meter Engineers Inc.

Evans Building Company Inc. of Wichita, KS designed and built a new facility in Kechi, KS for Meter Engineers, designers and fabricators of petroleum equipment. The project included four individual Rigid Frame structures from Varco Pruden Buildings that totaled more than 91,000 sq. ft.

Metra Union Pacific/West Commuter Railroad Station

Construction of the new Metra Union Pacific/West commuter railroad station in Lombard, Ill., marks a major improvement for riders as well as the residents of the Village of Lombard. The platform canopies are clad with approximately 11,000 sq. ft. of PAC-CLAD Tite-Loc Panels from Petersen. The curved 22-gauge panels are finished in Aged Copper.

Metric Apartments

Creating mid-rise apartment buildings that are both affordable and attractive can be a challenge. Mixing color and material palettes along with façade profiles and depths offers one option for boosting appeal without challenging profit margins. This is the option chosen by designers of the new Metric Apartments in Minneapolis in their plans for the five-story structure, with metal wall panels from Petersen playing a featured role in the effort.

Metrohm USA

The plans for Metrohm USA’s new, 90,000-square-foot headquarters called for an all-inclusive layout with space for offices, training facilities, engineering and machining workshops, a distribution warehouse and laboratories designed for collaboration. To meet the project’s unique design and performance parameters, the building team turned to Metl-Span, getting a turnkey insulated metal panel building envelope solution from the drafting table to the jobsite.

Metropolis

More than 32,000 sq. ft. of Citadel aluminum composite material metal wall panels, finished in seven different colors, was used to clad various retail outlets at Metropolis, a 600,000 sq. ft. open-air shopping and entertainment lifestyle center located in Indianapolis, IN.

Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority Airfield Maintenance Complex

At the Metropolitan Knoxville (Tennessee) Airport Authority, the buildings that housed all the maintenance vehicles, equipment, and personnel were antiquated and becoming cramped. A decision was made to tear down the old buildings and replace them with a larger, more efficient, all encompassing Airfield Maintenance Complex - featuring metal wall and roof panels from The Garland Company Inc.

Metropolitan Park Apartments

More than 10,000 sq. ft of RHEINZINK material zinc wall panels in two finishes contribute to the “coolness” of the new Metropolitan Park Apartments in downtown Grand Rapids, MI. The 24-unit residential development addresses Michigan’s Cool Cities Initiatives, which are designed to make the state’s urban centers more appealing places for young professionals to live. The project was designed by Joseph Gonzalez, AIA, a principal with Chicago-based DeStefano and Partners Ltd. He explored the use of RHEINZINK material because of its relationship to European designs.

Metropolitan Shadyside

More than 10,000 sq. ft. of Citadel metal composite material (MCM) panels in two installation systems were used on The Metropolitan Shadyside, a new 42-unit luxury condominium project located in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh. The distinctive six-story building was crafted to meet the specific needs of high-end condominium buyers. Designed by the Pittsburgh engineering/architectural firm Astorino, The Metropolitan Shadyside utilizes Citadel’s Envelope 2000® Rout and Return (RR) System as well as Citadel’s Reveal (RV) System. The panels were finished in Clear Anodized.
