Northern Alberta Institute of Technology

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Edmonton is a leader in technical training and applied education. As a continuation of its mission--and in accordance with its master plan--the Institute recently added the 20,000 sq. ft. facility to accommodate two key apprenticeship programs. Featured on the exterior of the new building is 22-gauge RHEINZINK® titanium zinc with a Preweathered Blue Gray finish. Cohos Evamy integratedesign™, Edmonton, was the project's designer.

Northern Arizona University Dining Hall Expansion

When time and money are tight, you go with what you know and trust. Jason Boyer, AIA, LEED AP BD+C and Benjamin Mullings, LEED AP BD+C of Jason Boyer Architects (JBA) in Phoenix had previously worked on the award-winning Health and Learning Center project at Northern Arizona University, completed in 2011 while at OWP/P Cannon Design. That project included corrugated panels and perforated corrugated panels from Morin, A Kingspan Group Company.

Northern Arizona University Student-Athlete Performance Center

There's nothing old school or low-tech about Northern Arizona's new 72,000 sq. ft., $47 million Student-Athlete Performance Center. In addition to classrooms, study areas and research labs to support high-altitude athlete training, the building features a sophisticated design incorporating insulated metal panels from Kingspan.

Northern Kentucky University Student Union

The new 58,000 sq. ft. Student Union at Northern Kentucky University, Highland Heights, KY serves as the hub for the entire campus and creates a crossroads for student, faculty and staff activities. University administrators sought a “unique and appealing identity” that would raise the standard and set a new direction for architectural excellence on the campus, according to Michael Jacobs, principal, Omni Architects, Lexington, KY. Utilized for the building's construction was 30,000 sq. ft. of RHEINZINK® Preweathered Blue-Gray zinc panels.

Northgate Plaza

Northgate Plaza, a new office building opened in February 2020 in the fast-growing Pinnacle Hills neighborhood of Rogers, Ark., was envisioned as a new standard for occupant-focused office space in this premiere business and entertainment district. Complementing its glass exterior is aluminum composite material (ACM) cladding from 3A Composites USA.

Northlake - Barbara Loar Library

Time and again architects have challenged the capabilities of aluminum composite material (ACM) panels to conform to their complex geometric designs. A recent example can be found in Tucker, Georgia where the material played an integral role in the nautically inspired renovation and expansion of the Northlake – Barbara Loar Library. The project’s makeover was completed under the direction of Richard Wittschiebe Hand Architects of Atlanta, GA. Charged with manufacturing the composite panel system for the project was Altech Panel Systems of Cartersville, GA. The company fabricated the panels to demanding specifications at the jobsite using its “Total Station” production process.

Northland Pioneer College Skills Center

A new complex of buildings, utilizing products from Star Building Systems, was designed by DLR Group for the Skills Center at Northland Pioneer College in Holbrook, AZ. Since welding is the trade taught in this building it was a natural showcase for steel construction.

NorthPark Church

Who thought inspiration could come in the form of a steel building? Kenneth Joyner did. When the CEO of J&J Contractors was hired to finish a long-range growth plan for NorthPark Church in Meridian, Miss., he turned to Ceco Building Systems. The end product was a stunning worship facility that not only serves the congregation but has already struck a chord with visitors.

Northwest Arkansas Community College

Although less than 15 years old, an architectural shingle roof was leaking badly at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville, AR. “We get lots of wind in the area and every time a storm would come through, we would lose shingles,” said Jim Lay, construction manager for the college. “So in our master plan, we decided to use metal on all future roof installations.” Approximately 100,000 sq. ft. of PAC-CLAD Snap-Clad Panels by Petersen Aluminum were used in the major tear-off and re-roof project.

Northwest Distributors

The versatility of McElroy Metal's 238T symmetrical standing seam roof profile is unquestionable, as is the cleverness of the company's innovative approach to handling rooftop skylights when its panel systems are utilized in metal-over-metal retrofit roof applications. Both the panel system and the approach are on display at a recently completed roof-over at Northwest Distributors in Hays, KS.

Northwest Independent School District Aquatic Center

The new Northwest Independent School District Aquatic Center in Fort Worth, Texas features striking reflective metal tiles by Petersen that stretch across the façade, serving as a background for the building’s main signage. Their aqua-toned reflective hue creates the appearance of ripples across the wall, like one might see in a pool filled with swimmers.

Northwestern Mutual Headquarters

Northwestern Mutual, a financial services company based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has expanded into a new, modern office space – in a building that is nearly a century old. The company completely renovated the interior of Milwaukee’s Van Buren building, built in 1926, and Banker Wire woven wire mesh now clads its central elevator banks.

Norton Brownsboro Hospital

Norton Brownsboro Hospital is the first new full-service hospital to open in the Louisville, KY area in more than 20 years. The five-story, 298,000 square foot facility features the latest in healthcare technology and an innovative patient and family-centered care model. Featured on the building's exterior are insulated metal wall panels from Metl-Span.

Novogratz Center For Athletics

Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, N.Y., is a historic co-ed college preparatory school, educating students from Nursery through 12th grade. Products from Metl-Span were specified for the Novogratz Center for Athletics, the school’s fieldhouse/gymnasium.

Now House Energy Concept Home

Now House is a Near-Zero-Energy concept home located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. What makes the project rather unique is that its designer, David Fujiwara, was able to successfully apply the concepts of near-zero-energy-use construction to an existing home—one more than 50 years old—rather than new construction. It speaks volumes that alongside technologies like solar photovoltaics, solar thermal heating, low-flow water fixtures, low-e windows and high-efficiency insulation, the project includes VicElite from VICWEST.

Nu Skin Enterprises Inc. is a leader in anti-aging and skin care products and research. As part of their commitment to research and innovation, the company invested $100 million in an Innovation Center in Provo, UT. The center – which used metal products from CENTRIA - reflects the modern sensibilities of the global company and houses research laboratories, conference spaces and more.

Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac

Blending elements of pre-engineered metal building and conventional construction, design firm Aecom was able to devise an expansion plan for Nurse Chevrolet Cadillac that enabled the dealership to triple in size without shutting its doors in the process. The design firm’s choice for the metal building portion of the project was Robertson Building Systems and its local authorized builder, Winvalley Contracting.

NW Line JATC

JHC Commercial, LLC of Portland, Oregon was awarded the American Buildings 2024 Building of the Year Excellence in Design Award for the NW Line JATC project. This state-of-the-art facility in Battle Ground, WA, serves as headquarters of the Northwest Line Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee and a training center for aspiring linemen—skilled professionals who specialize in high-voltage power lines.

NYPA Niagara Warehouse And Office Complex

The 58,000 square foot, $23.5 million Niagara Warehouse and Office Complex in Lewiston, New York was designed to store materials, supplies and equipment in support of the project’s 2,441-megawatt hydroelectric operation. A total of 18,000 square feet of the three-story building were built to function as administrative office space. The project features a variety of roof and wall products from CENTRIA.

NYPD Precinct 121

Staten Island is the fastest growing borough in New York City and the newly completed Precinct 121 serves as the face of the New York Police Department there. The precinct building was designed by acclaimed architect Rafael Vinoly Architects of New York City and makes extensive use of Contrarian Metal Resources' InvariMatte® Stainless Steel on its two-story exterior.
